Damn John, that song takes me back...suddenly remembering The Church "Under the Milky Way", The Smithereens "Blood and Roses", The Smiths "How Soon Is Now", and many, many more.

Call/e-mail me if you and Tomo want to do the Exotic Erotic Ball again. I will have a huge booth this year with 20+ models, 2 DJs, 2 Rappers, a stripper stage, etc.

Anyway, thanks for the song, and see if you remember this:

The Smithereens with Suzanne Vega "In A Lonely Place"

I like the melancholy songs...

ADG

ShellyCrash 10-15-2007 06:49 AM

"Season of the Witch"- Donovan
"Psycho"- the Sonics
"Halloween"- Misfits

alot of Screamin Jay Hawkins' stuff

... and this entire CD- Halloween Hootenanny
http://ec1.images-amazon.com/images/...CL._AA240_.jpg

Also I always put the "Unsolved Mysteries" theme on halloween mixes and it's always the scariest song on there. :2 cents:

Hadn't seen that version before...

Here is Marilyn Manson's This Is Halloween made for Tim Burton's "Nightmare Before Christmas".

Or how about Black Sabbath playing "Black Sabbath".

Now that is a rare chestnut.

Still, I found a few versions on YouTube, one by the Grateful Dead and one by the Jerry Garcia Band.

Gotta love the internet...RIP Warren and Jerry!

Always liked David Bowie's "Scary Monsters" at Halloween.

And how about Bowie performing Scary Monsters live with Nine Inch Nails.

(Poor video and sound quality, but cool nonetheless, yes?)

Sometimes the Moon howls, and the wolf is silent...

The exorcist theme

Mike Oldfield's "Tubular Bells" is a great piece of music aside from the fact many people are most familiar with a short version of it from "The Exorcist".

It is haunting, melodic, ethereal, at times melancholic, and other times uplifting. In short the full piece is quite epic.

If you have the time, check out this 3-part video of Tubular Bells filmed and recorded live in 1973:

NOTE: Get comfortable with your favorite drink or drug, and get ready for a long trip (it's over 20 minutes long)...

Tubular Bells, Part 1
Tubular Bells, Part 2
Tubular Bells, Part 3

If you think that is long, the original album version clocks in at nearly 50 minutes.

What is special about this version is the cast of musicians - Fred Frith, Steve Hillage, and Mick Taylor (the guy Ron Wood replaced in the Rolling Stones), all masters of their instruments, and musician's musicians.

BTW, Oldfield recorded the original album with himself playing most of the instruments. It was also the very first album released by Virgin Records.

Am I the only one that still has that 8-track? Quadraphonic no less.

There's always room for Jello (Biafra)...

So check this out, a video featuring the DJ Jazzy Jeff and Fresh Prince song "Nightmare On My Street", with movie clips from various Freddy films...

My parents bought me an 8-track for my car when I was a kid. The first time it clicked tracks in the middle of a song, I knew the 8-track as a format was doomed.

Speaking of Quadrophonic, I had a really cool Marantz quadrophonic amplifier back in the day - used to love playing Quadrophenia (by the Who) on it.

To get this thread back on "track" (although I sense that it has already jumped off the tracks), check out Sisters of Mercy doing "This Corrosion".

This is a good thread, glad it's still going.

I also like to throw a little Balzac on my halloween mixes. Not sure if anyone here is into them, but they are a heavily mistfits inspired japanese horror punk band:

http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/...WL._AA240_.jpg

Another really good misfits inspired horror punk band is Calabrese out of Phoenix. If you can find the track "Midnight Spookshow", grab it. It's on their 13 Halloweens CD and a handful of comps floating around. It's good stuff. :thumbsup

ShellyCrash 10-26-2007 07:39 AM

I'm going through and putting together an updated playlist.. just realized no one listed "Code Blue" by TSOL- it's a classic :thumbsup
