The three terrorists
My back is pretty much back to normal and I have the use of my legs back, my mom went to stay at my brothers, so I woke up early and was going to go out of town to take care of some business I have neglected since my back has been screwed up. I don't fly anymore because I can't sit for long periods of time, so I travel by motor home. I had loaned my motor home recently and the person I loaned it to failed to tell me that it was making a noise when he returned it. I started it this morning, heard the noise, so now it is in the shop.
Anyhow the 3 "terroists" that were turned in by the woman that overheard the conversation in the restaurant were on the Larry King show, which I missed, and they were interviewed on Fox News today, which I saw. Their story is that they didn't even mention 9/11 while in the restauarant and in fact had friends whose family members were in the WTC, so they would not be laughing about 9/11. During their conversation while in restauarant they were talking about possibly bringing another car down. They also said that they did not speak in any lanquage other than english (the woman apparently claims she also heard them speaking in a foreign lanquage) since that is the only lanquage the three of them have in common, and only one of them speaks Arabic. The driver of the car that was supposed to have blown the toll booth says that he in fact paid the toll, but a Squad car pulled in behind him when he left the toll booth. The following car saw the Squad car pull in behind his friend, so he asked the toll booth operator what was going on and she said he didn't pay, but the driver of the second car said she still had the money in her hand. He asked how much was the toll for both cars and she told him so he then paid for both cars. He got on his cell phone and called his friend in the car that the Squad car was following and asked why he didn't pay and his friend told him that he did pay. The Sheriff is supposed to have the video tape from the toll booth but hasn't released it to the media. The woman may not be lying, but picking up bits and pieces of a conversation, thought they were talking about something different than what they actually were talking about. I don't think the students are lying, so at this point it adds up to a cluster fuck as far as I am concerned. There is an article on CNN. |
There's no doubt in my mind that this whole thing was fucked up investigating from the beginning. First of all, the authorities relied on the word of some $5.00 an hour redneck waitress from northern Georgia who probably drives a monster truck right in the heart of KKK country. They shot the movie Deliverance near that area so you figure it out.
Secondly, the poor bastards had the misfortune of heading straight into South Florida otherwise known as the Banana Republic. Shit, we still can't conduct an election correctly. If it's incompetence and injustice you want, you got it right down here. South Florida cops have a feeding frenzy mentality, so once the word got out, they smelled blood. Still, it's understandable why everyone is on edge so soon after the anniversary of 9/11. But it was obvious by reading all accounts that these guys were just in the wrong place at the wrong time.:winkwink: |
As an aside, I hear the three muslims are thinking of sueing the woman for slander and defamation of character.
On the one hand, we are supposed to be vigilant and report any even vaguely suspicious behavior, but then can the people we refer the gov't to turn around and sue us for that? If so, the gov't needs to pass a law protecting anyone who turns in some info, because probably most of the time it'll turn into a false alarm. |
i'm disappointed. i was hoping this would be a Pathfinder joke:
"three terrorists walked into a bar"... |

There needs to be checks and balances, and the fact that you might get sued is a check against you abusing the system to go after people just because you're racist or whatever. |
I have to admit the three students are taking this very well. First, they say the police were simply doing their job, no hatred towards them. They simply said the waitress was lying, but don't want to press charges on her. Then they are not allowed to do their 9 week internship because of threats on the hospital. After all this, they are still being cool about it. If it were me, I'd be suing this woman for ruining my life!

This is a very backwoods scenario. If I was of mid-eastern descent I would stay out of the south.
