Old style would be a Gobo:

Newer style is to use computer control LCD style gobos... amoungst other ways of doing it.

You may get what you need from B&H in NY or Sammies in LA

They use these steel cut out stencils on high powered light source like a QH projector.
I've seen simple versions at The Party Store and online, used to project Seasonal greetings onto garage doors ( Im sure they are not as powerful as the example you posted )

I don't get it.

Yeah, LCD projector would be my guess. They have corporate models just for such things.

Thanks:thumbsup

Ellipsoidal

Ellipsoidal spotlights ( or 'Lekos' as they are commonly called) throw a well-defined, concentrated beam of light that can be focused on a particular spot or area from a distances ranging from 20 - 75 feet. They work great in overhead and side positions, and feature a focusable lens. These are very commonly seen in theatres and entertainment venues. They will also accept metal patterns (gobos) enabling them to project an image (such as stars or your own corporate logo) onto a wall, floor, curtain or other flat surface. Will not work with glass gobos. Our ellipsoidals contain four internal framing shutters for optional projection of squares and rectangles, or for coming off of a wall from a side position. All metal welded steel body. Professional theatrical heavy duty fixture.

Gobo

A gobo is a stainless steel or glass-etched cutout, that when placed in a pattern projecting light fixture will project that image onto a wall or other flat surface.
