Soo..... <EPASS PASSWORDS DRAMA THREAD>

So how secure is our personal info in sponsors webmaster area?
If it happened to Traffic Hangar that google cashed their webmaster
personal information page, can it happen to some other sponsor?

How about you don't use the same password for everything? This has nothing to do with Epassporte, nitwit.

Buy a copy of roboform and generate a unique pswd for each site.

It can be said that the could add just one extra layer of security beyond a password to perform an operation like change an email or send cash.
Such as pick out the correct image that you selected when you created the account, or enter in a 4 digit pin number that you pre selected. Both would be super cheap and save so much hassle and animosity towards them.

There were many factors at fault here, none having anything directly to do with ePass.

1) Lazy webmasters use same name and passwords for multiple sites.
2) Inept Traffic place does not setup a robots.txt or properly check credentials, or, oh, even setup .htaccess authentication to keep this data from being crawled.
3) Mean/bad people login to other sites, utilizing information listed in #2 to test #1. Withdraw money.

Yes, it sucks that your money is gone, but your household and car insurance will refuse to pay if you left the door wide open. This whole bullshit is just trying to deflect blame for being stupid. It's a needlessly expensive lesson for some :Oh crap

Would you say that using the robots.txt and .htaccess files our personal info is pretty much safe?
So it's mainly Traffic Hangar foul?

lol "epass passwords" you are ill. everyone who still asking for that "big epass robbing" is ill. go and find job as far from the internet as is possible. you dont have nothing to do online! if you cant understand that every website is unique and every website is made by many many people so every website have another security you dont have nothing to do in online biz! i believe people who are still thinking those traffichangar passes is epassporte fault dont own any site, cause its security will be shitty as traffichangar was! :2 cents:

Well, put it this way.... is this the first time you've heard of a secure admin area being open to the public and cached by google... or have you noticed it happening to a lot of sponsor programs in the past?

Dejan 10-15-2007 05:24 AM

People I know that this have nothing with epass
but the fact is that someone stole someones $$ because ppl use same user/pass
for epass as for sponsors...
