adtech NY, whose going?
 

this will be my first adtech, what should i expect?

I'll likely be there, last year I booked the day before and had a blast in NYC. Gotta see which mainstream clients are going this year.

goodgirl and I are scheduled to be there. It is my understanding that the NY show is the best of all the Ad Techs (this will be my first at NYC).

What is it you guys get the most out of this show?
Marketing ideas from where mainstream is and going? Potential employees?

Ive been there last 4 years, and its ok but nothing that special. Alot of it is the same people pushing the same stuff over and over. Im hoping there will be some better stuff this year. Last year there was only a handful of things that peaked our interest and only 1 thing that we actually used. But there was a Zango booth last year, so hopefully they will be there this year, so we can all throw stuff at them again.

The reason I go is branding.

I have been in adult long enough that people know who I am whenever I go to an adult show. This builds a trust relationship, and people are more willing to do business beyond the "affiliate phase."

Since we do a lot of mainstream stuff and have some pretty huge mainstream projects in their infancy, it only makes sense that I build the same relationship on the mainstream side.

Trying to brand yourself on the mainstream boards is a PITA as most that I have attempted to infiltrate are run by and populated with members that make GFY seem like a virtual Garden of Eden. Trying to get work done there is like pulling teeth from chickens or herding cats (as A1R3K would say).

I have been attending mainstream shows for two or three years now and can say that my plan is working. I can now go onto a show floor and people recognize me and/or goodgirl.

I have progressed to the point that owners of major companies know me by my first name and they know we are here for real as we show up at shows in San Francisco, Chicago, San Jose and soon, NYC.

A couple of companies have requested and received their own Got Web Host, We Don't Suck t-shirts.
