ICQ... wtf? Is this happening to anybody else?
Over the last couple weeks, I've been having this problem whenever I have ICQ windows open wherein the windows behave like exit consoles that have been coded to "focus forward" - meaning that open (but idle) ICQ windows suddenly spring to the foreground and interrupt whatever I'm doing at the moment. This appears to happen at random intervals - or at least I have not been able to discern a pattern/likely 'trigger' for it, so far.
I've also had the program act as though I've hit the 'tab' key, thus activating the send button, resulting in messages being sent before I'm done typing them. I've spoken to a few other people that are having the same problem, including a couple of my XBIZ coworkers. Anybody here having the same problem? Any idea how to stomp this miserable bug? My apologies if somebody else has already posted about this - the GFY search function got hung up when I tried to check. |
I've been having that exact same problem.. also, while I'm typing a message to someone it will act as if I hit enter and send my message. Only I wasn't done typing the fucking thing.

I have been having the same problem. Windows with messages don't light up, but random open message windows fly in front of everything. I'll be trying to type a message and it will either send half of it before I actually hit send or it will fly another window in front and I have to keep re-selecting the one I am trying to chat in.

Mine's awful too.. Very rarely does it hit enter before im ready to send a message, but it does however bring other random icq messages to the foreground every 5 minutes

I use adium and it's running fine.

Seems to be pretty stable for me.Is yours the newest version?
|
Yeah, ICQ is srsly starting to suck.
It sucks worse with each new release. |
you are not alone brudda.....

In case you guys have not figured it out yet, ICQ is not something that should be updated with each new release. I never update it untill they make the old version non-functional.

Thank god, i thought it was just me! We're having the same problem. It'll pop other icq windows up in front of one that i'm typing in.
Sometimes, it'll even send a message while i'm in the middle of typing a sentence. Thank god most people i talk with are on Gtalk..... |

So unless they are auto-updating in the background, which is possible, i think it's something else. |

I use 2003b and I have been having the EXACT same problem. When I have several ICQ windows open and I am typing in one, another will pop up in front of it. When in the middle of typing, the cursor disappears and I have to click the text box again to start typing. I haven't updated in a couple years so thinking it is something else affecting it. Starting to drive me nuts.

never had the problem

Holy fuck. Had anyone checked out the forums on icq.com? TOTAL wast of time. Whoever designed their forums needs to be shot.
