AFF vs Other dating sites

This is a post for all dating sponsors around to read and learn some words from a webmaster with some international traffic.

During the last weeks several dating sponsors have contacted me asking to move my traffic from AFF to them. Some offered special deals, others just offered me the normal payouts.

Here is my analysis of some sponsors and why they will not get my traffic, and some other webmasters traffic too. I will divide all these sponsors in 3 categories.

1 ) AFF : Has geotargeted text on their site. When I load their page from Spain it tells me in perfect spanish "Mujeres Buscando Hombres cerca de Madrid" (women searching for men in Madrid). This proper geotargeting and translation is perfect and really helps to convert traffic. All the site is in the correct language and there is no one single word in English. I have to choose nothing as surfer, the site just loads in my language. This is the reason AFF is standing by it's own merits in a separate category. Locations in user profiles are spelled correctly and even if they are fake profiles, at least they look real enough for the surfer to signup.
The AFF site loads considerably faster than the others, and no, it's not because of my browser cache. It's because they invest in hosting.

2 ) Fling, Iwantu, Sexsearch and Amateurmatch: They can properly geotarget me, but what I see is all the site in english. So, why are you showing english to spanish surfers? It's like me showing a Spanish or Chinese page to surfers comming from USA. Makes completely non sense, so your conversions are way lower for non USA traffic. Locations are misspelled, so everyone who lives in Madrid could nail pretty fast that some profiles are completely fake.
These sites load considerably slow. If you want some decent hosting offer for distributed network so your surfers load things from their local country or some near country instead of your overused rack in USA, the contact me.

3 ) All the others: These new programs like Camazon and other small programs do not have geotarget localizations. It's not a big deal because these are small programs, so they fit their local niche/country.
I was amazed that some of these sites were loading really fast. Camazon loaded really fast.

If you really want to be comparable to AFF and get international webmasters traffic, then make your work properly and at least translate your sites. I don't care if you offer me 75% revshare if you cannot convert my traffic.

Also what's up with accounts being closed if they don't send you traffic? It's not that I will signup to your program and start pushing overnight to you the traffic I am sending to AFF. Some sponsors wait my list a year or more before I even decide to send a single hit to them. Of course, if you close my account because of "inactive", then you cannot expect me to signup again for your program.

So, if you want international traffic (EU is a HUGE market with lots of traffic and money waiting for you), then do these things before even wasting webmaster's time:

1 ) Translate your sites. It's not that hard. Hire several persons or a translations company to translate your sites and you are done.
2 ) Get some decent hosting that can guarantee your sites will load fast enough for surfers that are not in USA. Feel free to contact me about that one if you don't know what I'm talking about. It's not about hiring 200 servers with 100 Mbit port in case you are ignorant enough to think that raw bandwidth will solve that problem.

As things stay now, AFF has no competition. If you wonder why you are smaller than AFF and why you have less affiliates and less traffic... the answer is simple... You are not even comparable to AFF. Sales reps mean nothing when the rest of your team does nothing to becomes better than your competition.

Now that you have read all that... You should look at my post count and just ignore all this post.

Rant over :321GFY

Excellent post. And yes the EU market cannot be ignored. It's growing faster than the U.S with an annual spending of something like 400 Million US.

Your absolutely right. AFF is the only dating sponsor that works with non US traffic. No doubt..

I'm with you on this one, AFF earns me more per click than anybody else, I'm hoping to at least tripple my traffic to them in the next 6 months or so

"Geo" targeting isn't required for languages and in fact shouldn't be used IMO... The language setting of the browser should be used for that.
