Canadians - what do you do with US checks? Exchange asap or put in your US account?

Canadians - what do you do with checks that you are getting form sponsors in US dollars? Are you gonna go and exchange them into Canadian asap or would you put it in your US accounts?

I have a US account myself where I have been storing my US funds - fucking idiot me... I still have about $2k US there. Had I exchanged it 9 months ago, instead of keeping it there, I would have had at least $100 more than what I will get now. What do you think I should do with it - go and exchange asap or keep it there as I have those past few months? What do you think is a smart thing to do with new checks coming form sponsors in US dollars? Would you exchange them into Canadian as soon as you receive them?

I thought I was so smart discovering ICICI Bank that pays 5% interest on US deposits two years ago. Now I just exchange into CDN.

Funny, people asked this question back in January.... saying that they were going to hold on to it until the dollar went back up.

I wonder if they're still waiting.

holding to atleast trade in on par and not at a loss.

I keep it all in USD, about 90% of all my business purchases are done in the US so I'm not going to keep converting back and forth and let the banks take in a nice 2-3% cut each way. It sucks right now to convert to CDN, but nothing has changed business wise, a dollar US is still a dollar US.

My hard learned experince says "Always cut your losses now", if the shit goes back up so what, if it goes down you're only loosing you ass more.

Trust me, cash out. You might even be able to put it in savings in a Canadian bank and earn interest enough to cover the loss before the US dollar goes up high enough to cover it if you don't cash out.

Also don't forget that Osama is somewhere building a bomb and when he blows it the fuck up the US dollar will go even lower.

Oh, so you don't think Osama is plotting at this very moment or do you think that everyone will want to invest when it looks like we're all getting killed.

Depends on the size of the rev. cheques.

Smaller ones for only a few hundred we hold on until several pile up before we cash/deposit.

Larger ones over $1k we usually deposit within a few days of their arrival.

RBC has strictly USD accounts. Put it there and sit tight
