    Help Families Adopt A Child

    Approximately 5,000 U.S. families have spent an enormous amount of time and money trying to adopt a child from Guatemala. Many of them have been on a waiting list for 2 years and have spent over $30,000 in adoption fees. Recently Guatemala has changed its adoption laws and will not honor its previous adoption policies. These children have already been paired up with new families and relinquished by their birth parents. Guatemala has no social services in which to provide for these children. They deserve to know the love of a family. Please help the families who are in process of adopting by alerting our senators, congressmen and UNICEF to this potential humanitarian crisis.

      That's really unfortunate in some ways, but I think it's a good thing in the long term. I know someone who adopted a baby from Guatemala, and there was alot of craziness involved.

      I think something just came out yesterday though where UNICEF is working with US and Guatemalan agencies to push through the adoptions that were in progress prior to the legislation change, so good news.

          Hopefully it will work out for the families that were already in the process of adoption. Many of them have been to Guatemala and have meet the child they are trying to adopt.
