    IMO I don't see the affiliate model going away anytime soon and I see plenty of potential of growth there and I don't think you really need to offer an unique product at all - to succeed/grow in the online biz.

      Well the affliate model is not going to go away,but I think if you have your own unique product you have more control over what happens and control your future better than in the hands of others.

                  you can always shave affiliates to increase profits.
                  can't do that with fulltime in house employes.
