How much bandwidth do you think YouTube wastes on reading comments?

I receive an email every time someone comments on a video, but to actually read it I have to load the original video URL. Seems kinda pointless. :helpme

Presumably you only get them on specific videos, not every time each video on Youtube gets a comment?

I receive an email for every new comment posted to a video that I've uploaded.

How you going, stranger? :)

I thought that's what you really meant, sounded like an awful lot of email otherwise.

I am doing OK, I'll have to hit you up on ICQ sometime for a chat (assuming I can get the useless piece of crap to work LOL)

1. It's one more chance to get you back on their site.
2. Maybe you see some other vids and start clicking.
3. One more page view for alexa
4. cheaper than handing out flyers on a street corner.

Agreed, but with the amount of comment spamming these days their requirement to load the page is wasting my time. Mostly I don't bother reading the comments immediately as they're posted, instead I just go through my small collection of uploaded videos about once a week to weed out the spam, or approve the 5% of comments that are legitimate

Yeah, that's why I didn't spend any time coding comments in tubecgi.
I don't want to check comments for a dozen sites to delete crap all day long.
That's also why I left out video upload. That's nothing but a liability for a cp charge waiting to happen.

Probably not much. It is likely cached on your machine. No?
