Fuck you ROME!!!!!!!!!!

after webmaster access my girlfriend and I went to rome for 2 nights.

we get off the plane. they lost our luggage

we get into a cab - supposed to be about $50 - he charges us $120

we get to hotel - hotel confirms he ripped us off.

Hotel tells us they want to relocate us to another hotel 3 miles away. would require cabs to see everything instead of walking. call expedia - they fix it. took an hour.

get into room - it's 1/2 the size they say it was - oh well - it's a bed - no biggie

walk to the collesseum. basically assousted by all the street people -they are super rude. take some pics of the background - one demands I pay him cause he was in the background. I tell him to fuck off, he gets mean. I look him in the eyes in my northern way and nicely say fuck off. He realizes I'm about to tear him to peaces so he walks away.

go for pizza. it's a picture menu. they bring the wrong pizza out. waitress says it's the right one but it has no toppings. serioulsy fucked up - anyway we are starving so we eat it.

back to hotel and book a tour. VERY clear about a convertable bus in english. they say ok, get picked up to goto bus and tour group says convertable bus in english. Get loaded on bus - it's a regular bus and the only english is get on and get off - the rest was german. AND we are at a window with a fucking decal on it advertising the tour group so we can't see fuck all. We bail on this 1/2 way though and walk 3 miles or more back to hotel.

in room for about an hour and suddenly we BOTH get VERY sick. Fod poisioning from the pizza. next 24 hours are HELL - basically loose most of our time in rome due to this.

order water and extra toilet paper from room service - they bring up 4 bottles, no toilat paper. they open one - bottle top opener thing the waiter has. hour later we want the next bottle - there is no bottle opener in the room. we call room service. SHe comes up and opens the next one but says they have no bottle openers to leave. uggggg. finally get more toilet paper.

anyway we leave pissed about the entire country. several days now and I'm STILL fucking sick. I threw up 2 hours ago and direreea every fucking day.

only good thing is i've lost 10 lbs but i was working weights a lot and i think it's pretty much only the muscle i lost.

did i mention i now HATE italy - don't go there

Phil 10-06-2007 03:12 PM

LOL ... sorry to hear that dude..

Aquarius 10-06-2007 03:14 PM

wow, what a shitty trip, sorry to hear that.

Phoenix 10-06-2007 03:18 PM

i had the same kind of experience with italy

except the sickness..i couldnt believe how rude they were

weird as italians i nkow in canada are some of the nicest people you will meet

i guess with 30 million tourists a year or so, they dont give a flying fuck

maybe croatia will give them a run for their money and they will shape up

we stayed in a hotel that proudly had about 100 pictures of hitler on their 3rd floor...i couldnt believe it, like he was some kind of hero or something

D 10-06-2007 03:23 PM

Sounds worse than my trip to Ensenada where I was accosted by Federalis with AK-47's, and got into a bar fight at Papas & Beer with a dozen Mexicans half my size...

actually, in retrospect, that was a pretty fun trip. :)

Sorry to hear yours was a bummer, dude.

Deej 10-06-2007 03:24 PM

Thats fucked up shit!

Ive encountered the "pay me, im in that pic" guy before.....

Another something for nothing mother fucker!

funny how they think a little intimidation will fork out the bucks cause your "foreign"....

throwing it back obviously makes them realize what a fuckin idiot they are!

You ever get it with girls?

They simply wont leave you alone... I had one girl flip out saying she was going to sue me for taking a shot down a sidewalk in broad daylight...

IM GONNA SUUUUUUE YOU!!!

Great to see the look on their faces when you actually start laying out the law to them and they either drop their jaw or suck their chin so far in it and spin around to walk away in defeat!!

what kinda of pizza? allegedly

RP Fade 10-06-2007 03:41 PM

Yup..beautiful country, but terrible at reliability and customer service. I've had a few adventures flying thru Rome..

Casa Nova 10-06-2007 03:48 PM

that is one place I don't recommend going without someone from the country.

I'm going there with my girlfriend next year but luckily we are staying with her family there so we won't get ripped off. Hopefully my experience will be better then yours.

rvincent 10-06-2007 03:53 PM

I live only 30 minutes away from the Italian border, but I never go there without a friend that is fluent in Italian.
Whenever they see a foreign tourist, they do their best to scam/fuck him.

bronco67 10-06-2007 04:11 PM

That's strange...I know 2 people who have been to Rome and had their luggage lost.

Conspiracy?

PR_Dave 10-06-2007 04:17 PM

ROME is not real Italy.

If you want real Italy head north!

:pimp

evildick 10-06-2007 04:17 PM

As Labret used to say on here, "Italians are the hahahahahahas of Europe". (what he said, not me)

:1orglaugh

StarkReality 10-06-2007 04:20 PM

Rome really sucks, similar experiences here...once they recognize that you are a tourist, they try to milk as much money out of you as possible. Sure, it's always a bit like this in big cities, but not as blatantly.

Gregory Black 10-06-2007 04:23 PM

Heavy people are "huge targets" in tourist spots like Rome. The most likely thought you were American.

If you are thin and do not wear t-shirts, hip-packs, ball caps, and sandals then you tend to blend in much more easily. :2 cents:

I have actually seen gypsies throw their babies at tourists while in Rome. The dumb tourists catch the little fucker in their arms and then other gypsy kids swarm and pick their pockets. :1orglaugh:1orglaugh:1orglaugh

Porno Dan 10-06-2007 04:27 PM

We had a great time when we shot my Porno Dan's Roman Holiday DVD.

Sorry your experience was not as fun as ours.

Maybe Italians just don't like ugly people. When I was there, i had the best vacation ever :)

Gregory Black 10-06-2007 04:31 PM

Italy is an amazing country. You cannot blame Italians for the actions of the bottom feeders who hang around tourist areas. Those people are not Italians for the most part. I am sure even Canada has this problem.

st0ned 10-06-2007 04:41 PM

Wow that sounds like a horrible trip, Sorry to hear about that.

BradShaw 10-06-2007 04:45 PM

Rome is one of the best cities in the world.

#1 You should hire a private driver

#2 Book reservations directly with 5 star hotels

#3 Your driver should escort you to all of the touristy places

#4 If you are a real VIP, you can arrange (and pay for) private tour of the vatican. I think they charged jews more.

Passports are handed out way too easily. There should be a test for minimum competance to travel :)

BlueDesignStudios 10-06-2007 11:32 PM

sicone 10-07-2007 03:51 AM

Damn... fucked off way to end a trip

gooddomains 10-07-2007 04:31 AM

don't mess with the mafia

Marie 10-07-2007 04:46 AM

Not my experience! But then again... I speak italian and don't have high standards ;)

Rome is a weird city though. Romans don't really seem to appreciate the beautiful surroundings that they are in.

Oh and PR_Dave: WTF? The real italy is the South and the islands... good original food and the people are genuine.

CarlosTheGaucho 10-07-2007 06:58 AM

Well, unfortunately you described just about everything I would warn anyone before going to Rome.. warning is one thing, how to avoid another.
