Anyone using a collection agency?

I ask because I own a small collection agnecy in Iowa and was considering getting into adult, like charge backs and stuff. Do you get enough info (name, address) on chargebacks to go after the dead beats?

loads of business coming your way :)

problem is that a lot of the chargebacks are because of stolen credit cards, so you're going to be collecting debts from people that infact do not owe anything at all.

If the ones who owe you anything are not US-based, you can kiss it buh-bye.

Almost impossible. But if you really want to give it a try you better work in the online gambling industry. In adult it's small amounts to collect. In online gambling it's not unusual with $5000+ chargebacks...

Good luck.

I use them regularly, about to enter the litigation phase.

Good idea to try and capture those people - my efforts of collection letters, calls etc. many years ago as a test rendered 0 result.

I know laws vary state by state. Though some shit could end up in a world of hurt as far as fair debt collections. You very well may find it very hard to prove it was a given person with permission or using their own card.

If a roommate used a card without permission that would be small claimes/fraud and not collections depending on the state laws.

I wish you good luck and would love to see a company crack this nut. Though I do not have a crap load of chargebacks over the years I do have a number of checks and cards that failed to rebill after usage.

I have used them from time to time to collect court judgments. I find most to be worthless and staffed by inept people incapable of doing so much as returning a phone call.

Its really hard to find a good collection agency. Most of them are just as much deadbeats as the people they go after. I no longer pay ANYTHING up front, including litigation costs because I have had such a poor experience in that regards. Once they get that money, they seem to get lazy and not do a whole lot of anything. I really prefer anymore to do my own collecting but I no longer have the time for it.

I have a huge stack of default judgments that need to be domesticated and pursued in that bitch of a state known as California. If you want to give them a try, hit me up and I'll see if I can find the files. Its about a hundred thousand dollars worth, not including interest. I'll go 50/50 but dont even think about asking for advance fees up front.

Ok olks, sorry for the delayed response. I spent part of the weekend talking to the lawyer we use for garnishments and what not. It would seem that most of you guys are correct. This is not good business to chase. So that idea is out the window. Sorry to raise any hopes.

I was hoping it would work like that. But (according to the slimeball) use of foul language could get me sued silly, even if it is the website name.

Meh you could still name adult sites without the "foul language". Second I didn't say the bill collector would be threatening anyone...
