It all depends what you like to do. Yeah, there's more nightlife in Oahu, but Oahu is known as "New York with Palm Trees" and I have found that to be true. Maui is much nicer and there is plenty of places to party and shop. Much more low key and all around a much nicer place. If you stay in Kaanapalli there is a lot to do. I'm not sure you'll like Oahu, I know I didn't.
