Example... If I deduct my office from my house payment as a business expense I can save $680 a year. If I nickel and dime my receipts I can save another $120 in office supplies.

But both of those are the biggest red flags for home business peeps...

i got a certfied letter fronm the IRS 2 weeks ago saying they were going to take action against me for an outstanding debit

the amount i owed was 2.67. YES two dollars and sixty seven cents

When I got the dreaded audit notice, it wasn't by mail at first. It was by phone. And let me tell you, when you get a voicemail from the CRA (Canada Revenue Agency) saying we need to speak to the President or CFO of your company immediately, that'll send a shiver down your spine. Once they tell you by phone, then they'll send a letter to make sure its official, but they had to scare the bejesus out of me by phone first... eugh.

I got a hand delivered audit notice about six months ago and they said we owed over $50,000.

My accountant said no you don't owe anything and showed me all the checks she sent them.

It turned out that she was sending the checks and filing the payments online but for some reason they showed no payments for four quarters. She blamed the IRS computers and they blamed her but in the end we we all good except for about $2000 in fees for a couple late payments and they said they would waive this if the account wrote a letter saying she fucked up.

I feel your pain. The IRS sent me one letter, I immediately called and requested my transcripts so I could review my return, and the next thing I know they emptied my bank account leaving it negative. The bank took 2 hours to even tell me who took my money and why!! That was in January. Even today, the IRS has still not sent the requested transcripts. :(

oh shit...better hope they don't get ahold of one of your riders....

We skated through a full IRS audit this year. They stopped when they realized they owed us a refund. Its nice to have a wife with a degree in accounting and 14 years experience as an accountant in a large company.

Speaking of...

I hope I still get that fleshlight I won... ;)
