Should i buy an iPhone?
 

Im not sure if i should buy one or not..
I am hearing all these mixed things about it.. i really want one but now im not too sure.. and i dont want to have to wait for the next gen to come out next year.

Any thoughts from people who own one?

i love mine man. i started taking it instead of a laptop when i go on weekend trips. safari does great on it and so does email. websites are fully functional, except flash so far. i use google maps on it, bought tickets to movies and ordered pizza.

So you dont think i need to wait until the next gen comes out?
How is text messaging on it by the way

It gets released here on November 7th and its only going to be on the one Network which I'm a customer of for 5 years now. I'm defo gonna get it!

I just finally went from a brick shaped but somewhat smaller nokia phone that did not flip, did not have a camera, hell it was a phone. My new phone at leasts flips now and can get on the web I am told though I dissabled that. Still doesnt have a camera or a music player.

Until they release a patch and then walla they destroy your phone. :upsidedow

You can get them unlocked.. And even if you accidently update to 1.1.1 you can get it fixed so it works again

text messaging isnt bad. the keyboard does take a little getting used to as does anything and you'll get faster with it as time goes. to me its a big deal that apple steadily updates and improves the phone, and thats something they definitely will be doing. since it has no physical buttons and its all software they can literally update almost anything to improve it.

You can crack the iphones, one of our guys got his working off Tmobile.

I like them, they are slick, but for what I need to use a portable device for they typing isn't fluid enough yet where I can give up my sidekick.

that's a good point, it is all software updates.. but you know apple will do something to make you need to buy the new one..

next year honestly. they dont refresh products that fast. 9 to 12 months before a product gets upgraded.

iPhone is the best phone I have ever had by far...

Love mine. Actually, I have not taken my laptop anywhere since I got the iphone, It does everything I use to need my laptop for. THE ONLY thing I wish is that they would have gone with sprint or someone else with high speed net, but I can get by with the ATT for now.

My buddy has an unlocked one... and it's just WiFi ... You can click on WiFi or something and it just shows you if there are any near by connections.. Connect to one and boom.. Internet for free.

He has an unlocked iphone so I don't know if that has something to do with it.. I know there is a 'hack' for T Mobile users so they have internet anywhere (No WiFi needed, if I remember correct) for like 5.99 a month or something.

Of course you should look at all the cool shit it can do...

yeah i use a sidekick also, i tried an iphone at the mall and the features and technology blow sidekick away, but the typing sucks.

So does the internet only work with wifi? or does it work anywhere?

Didn't try the "phone" part out, but played around with a buddy's iphone at a bar the other night... pretty cool device.

The internet does work anywhere providing you are with a network that has EDGE and your account has data enabled.

The wifi works nicely. Unfortunately i cant use EDGE because im with Vodafone Australia who doesnt support it, but i know people on other networks who have used it.

Anyone know of when next generation comes out?

Bought one two weeks ago. Great fuckign phone. I got a black rubber case from InCase and a plastic shield and it's like Superman now. No problems and I'm on 1.1.1.
