Fuckin XP HELP!!!

O.k, needless to say im not the maintenance master when it comes to my home/office computer, I usually run them until I kill them and buy a new one instead of fucking around with trying to fix it.

That scene is getting old and my system is running slower than shit, I decided to Defrag (even though it said I didnt need to), than I ran a Virus Scan - 35 Virus's found and killed - Still running like shit I checked out my System info, I have 256 mbRam, and only 73mb Ram available.

In the past with other Windows versions I would know how to solve this issue, with Win XP, I have no clue.

Anyone that can throw some info about fixing this issue my way would be greatly appreciated, before I start my Sunday off as a punter and punt this flamming piece of shit into the school yard next door.

Thanks in advance.

If you're running Kazaa, take it off. If you MUST use Kazaa, use Kazaa Lite. The regular Kazaa will take resources away when it feels that you're not using your system.

Remove a lot of the crap programs you're running. Click on START, RUN, and type in MSCONFIG. In MSCONFIG, go to Startup. Those are all the programs you haev running on startup. Remove ANYTHING you don't need. YOu can actually remove EVERYTHING. If you're running a server on your system, leave that in there, but that's it. Everything else, open it yourself.

Other than that, I'd also recommend to add more RAM. With XP, there's a big difference in performance between 256M and 512M. The cost of 256M more is so little these days, go far it.

Try that and post the results.

Thanks I appreciate that info as I truly wasnt aware of it. Although on my importance meter at the moment thats hardly #1, as my XP issue is :)

Needless to say, thank you and fixed.

Add more ram. 512 minimum. Get a gig if your comp can take it. Best money you'll spend on computer parts.

Yes fucking Xp needs much more memory than win 2000 .

Add more and more....
