I for one am happy. Promoting other people's websites ain't my primary focus, i only have few affiliate links on a couple of smaller sites. Majority of my income is from local sites that do business in canadian dollars. Yeehaa :D

Well... five years ago you could have invested in the Canadian markets which have delivered a 60% return during that time.

But.... the main benefit is that if you used US dollars for this investment - you would actually have gained 120% during that same time when reduced dollar value is taken into account.

If the USD gets low enough, couldn't that help US exports?

Doesn't China purposely keep their currency low for this reason?

Sure.. it will help some industries and anyone who wants to buy eg land assets etc, but generally there is little to offer via exports. US manufacturing industry has been depleting for years now and there is more a reliance on importing. A positive trade balance is something which last happened decades ago.

The dollar will eventually pick up again to what it used to be ... when? maybe in 2,3,4,5 ...10 years? nobody knows

1 US Dollar = 0.99290 Canadian Dollar

just thought I'd do the reverse haha

I don't know how many times in the past 10 years I've read wisecracks from several Americans on the boards about our dollar's value. I'd mention our lotto 6/49 is up to $30 million and some wiseass would say "That's Canadian, what's that worth in REAL money, $27.50?"

Thing is 1. I miss those days, and let the wisecracks slide because I was laughing all the way to the bank. I'd transfer $1000 USD to my Canadian savings account and would get over $1500 for it. Ahhh, insult my money all you want fuckersss. :D

and 2. I can remember a time (back in the early 70's) when the Canadian dollar was worth $1.10 US. As a kid I remember exchanging money at the hotel front desk in Grand Forks and always getting to keep the extra dime our money was worth.


Nowadays I'm just not too thrilled at all about our money being at par. :(

True the value of the dollar is going down, but at least now you can afford to buy our stuff.

The only stuff on offer is the snorting kind and don't use that :winkwink: Otherwise there is no stuff...
