I can only guess, but my guess would be 25%. You can do a search on the SE's and probably find stats on the subject that would provide more accurate information. Maybe someone will post a link for the info.

I totally agree. At home an estimated 27% of users have broadband access. Broadband (sorta 4-600kbs) prices are about to drop to 21.99 this year. I think the entire AOL population will be getting a renewed interest in the net and it's services... PORN!

beemk 09-15-2002 12:31 AM

i would say 25% or less

The number of U.S. high-speed Internet subscribers jumped to 12.8 million lines in 2001, a surge of 80.3 per cent for the year, according to statistics released on Tuesday by the Federal Communications Commission.

The number of subscribers to such service from their cable television companies almost doubled last year, with 7.1 million customers receiving service from operators like Charter Communications Inc. and Comcast Corp.

There were 5.2 million cable-modem subscribers in June 2001 and 3.6 million in 2000

I simply can't imagine people using a basic dialup. Actually I can...I still have a dialup account that I use as a backup connection and its fucking slow.
Takes 30 minutes to download a 4mb file.
A gallery page takes well over 35 seconds to load.

High speed has been out for years and years. Not sure why people don't switch already. Even Africa has high speed - lol.

In 2-3 years, the majority will be using high speed connections.
If you have stocks with AOL you might want to sell soon. Unless they can provide high-speed, I'm sure they will be finished in the next couple years.

The percentage of dial-up users in the world is about 80-85% , but decreasing.

DjSap 09-15-2002 09:13 AM

the tgp surfer is not a normal surfer....i'd say the high speed connection % is higher amongst porn surfers...
