in europe, buying laptop in the US off ebay

when i buy a laptop from the US i.e. off of ebay, will i be able to use it here in holland? I read that the power voltages in the US are 110v, here in europe its 220v. I guess its just a matter of buying another adapter (or something??) here in holland or is the whole laptop different? (btw i bet im asking a lot of dumb questions but bare with me!)

I'm sure they would have some type of a converter some where in your local appliance stores?

I lol'd. :1orglaugh

Ok, sorry the questions was that kinda.

Well, you can use the laptops anywhere in the world .. if its charger requires 110v AC as input, you either can get a different adapter or simply a 220-110v converter.

I don't know of any other thing which can create problem for ya. May be language of BIOS? lol .. but if its not getting shipped from japan, i guess it will be in English.

I don't think the converter is your biggest headache though. You can get one at pretty much any electronics/home appliance store. Your bigger problem will be paying NL VAT and perhaps even customs fees for the laptop.

It's not what the package weighs or what it looks like. It's what the sender says it contains. Shoes may be OK, but I'm pretty sure you'll have to pay VAT and custom tariffs for any kind of electronic equipment.

I don't think it'll work because in U.S.A, the electricity runs from positive, through neutral, to negative, whereas in Europe it runs from negative straight to positive, or, in reverse.
This is where the term 'chargeback' comes from.
If you plug an american device into a socket in europe, you will chargeback the outlet and cause a shortage in the local switching station.

Round of applause for me, anyone?

It will work fine but you will need a adaptor from that will convert 220 into 110 V. It would be good if you will get a adaptor from the same manufacturer.

Just get another power adapter. the device itself doesn't run on 110 or 2220.

That is what did for my Sony Vaio.

Put really, get a tablet!
