Confuse american mexican food with mexican food?

Sorry just an observation.

damn your make me crave chipotle and its closed i guess the next best thing would be some 7-11 nachos with chilli and cheese.

Nachos = American mexican or tex mex.
Crispie tacos = American mexican or tex mex. *typically.
Over abundance of refried beans = American mexican or tex mex.
Nicely rolled enchilladas = American mexican or tex mex.

So forth.

American nachos = Nacho chips with a side of artificial cheese dip
Mexican nachos = Real tortilla chips covered in real melted cheese

Bah aside from border towns and tourist areas, there be no nacho's. Now a cheese based dip maybe, melted cheese on chips nope.

Guess I am not cultured enough yet.

I am just one of those food people.
Though you will not see me tell people the proper way to eat or order sushi, nor get upset if you use more than salt and pepper on a steak or heaven forbid cover it in katchup, even if it is authentic kobe beef.

On this subject though, I was just thinking how I missed good mexican food and then it dawned on me last time I asked someone about any good new places. It was all American versions or tex mex.

The food we get here is very different from food you would get in China.

Hell tons of Americans visit Mexico and never venture away from tourist areas. that is a shame.

Ok not all real chinese dishes use such animals, same goes for japanese etc.
PS sharkfin and birdnest soups are the nasty, or a very aquired taste.

Then again so are many mexican foods too, aquired tastes that is.
