The update also undoes the jailbreak procedure required to gain access to the iPhone's file system.

Wait so if you do the update and still put your old sim back in you are still screwed and have a useless several hundred buck paper weight?

I am sure if you register it with AT&T it will work again.

From what I read some apple stores will fix it.Other will tell you you are screwed.
I give it 3 weeks before the hackers unlock the new firmware. Then I'll buy one for me.

Because he does not give using his name does not mean he does not give to charity. Sure he is not on any high power lists because that would require he give under his name. He gives and requests to be anonymous.

exactly, the iphone comes with a "contract" of sorts, and part of that contract is to NOT alter the system of the phone

so, if you get an iphone and hack it, you are voiding any and all warranty
