TopBucks is so stupid

TopBucks just closed my account because "ccbill has detected some fraudulent practices BUT can't give further detail"

I don't believe that, but if it's true: Get rid of CCBILL and protect your webmasters if you want to stay in the game and continue to make money from your webmasters!!

And this after a few weeks ago TopBucks legal department threaten me to remove their videos from my website because they were the legal owners of the material. I WAS ONLY USING the short clips in the affiliates are to PROMOTE your websites, morons!!

Just wanted to let everyone know TopBucks is going down

catalin 09-28-2007 09:49 AM

In case you didn't know that already

Harrison Richard 09-28-2007 09:52 AM

Cat, affiliate fraud is so prevalent in this industry that you should feel good about this situation. This kind of proactive initiative is what makes your business more stable in the long term.

I am sure that Top Bucks would welcome you back as an affiliate if you are able to work this out with CCBill.

Darkhorse 09-28-2007 09:53 AM

Topbucks is one of the oldest and biggest sponsors around, wtf are you going to do???

do you run a torrent site?

catalin 09-28-2007 10:00 AM

no I don't run a torrent site, do you ?

it proved the legal dept made a mistake about that

commonsense 09-28-2007 10:01 AM

Got anyone that can vouch for you? Sponsors do not drop affiliates that are making them money.

Are you a carder?

no, I just feel they are going down by themselves, I can't do anything to help that. Cutting expenses by closing webmaster accounts is not a sign they are doing good..

There's the problem.

My Topbucks account is a revenue stream for them. Yours, by your own words, is an expense.

Dirty F 09-28-2007 10:31 AM

They are going down? What do you base that on? Because they canned you? You obviously didnt think that before as you wouldnt promote a company that goes down right? So basically after they closed your account you feel its right to claim they are doing down??

You sound like a real bright person.

xNetworx 09-28-2007 10:34 AM

TopBucks isn't going anywhere, moron :)

D 09-28-2007 10:38 AM

Tell a scammer how he got caught, and all you've done is make someone more efficient at scamming the next time around.

If you're an innocent party caught in the fray, contact your accusers and work it out with them... there are some legitimate practices that reflect as fraudulent when you look at the data - and everyone in such a position to make those calls knows that... so if you're truly innocent, plead your case to them, and - so long as you're shooting straight - the data backs up what you have to say and you should be able to get things taken care of, I'd think.

This isn't Ma&Pa's processing that's found you at probable fault... it's an established name in the industry... work it out with them.

Tom_PM 09-28-2007 10:49 AM

Good advice up there.

FreeHugeMovies 09-28-2007 10:52 AM

CCBIll is Terrible and Topbucks is going down. Why do I think everything in that statement is totally false?

woj 09-28-2007 10:58 AM

You must have been doing something wrong, a big sponsor will not close an account of a profitable affiliate...

I'm not promoting them for quite a while now, I'm just #2 on google for one of their sites' names

The only thing that I don't understand is why should I deal with a sponsor's processor ?

I don't care who they use to process or how they do it, all I know is that I signed up with TopBucks and not ccbill and that they HAVE all the info (ref codes) to talk to ccbill as long as I told them I'm an honest webmaster

Maybe ccbill tells me to talk to the abusing visitors and get things straight with them and if they promise no to do it again I will be let back in

bdld 09-28-2007 11:54 AM

i'd love to hear the other side of this story.

catalin - First and foremost, Topbucks is not going anywhere. Aside from your particular case - there have been hundreds perhaps thousands of affiliates that were shutdown for fraud and yet they (Topbucks) are still prospering in the industry and growing month by month, year to year.

Your insinuation that they shut you down to cut costs is ridiculous, sorry.

I don't know what the situation is - but I assure you that in cases of fraud, they don't see all the details, hence, they can't offer you more details either. Once the biller says to shut you down - it's in their best interest to follow their order - because any transaction by you will not be accepted by them.

I hope that clarifies the situation for you.

xmas13 09-28-2007 12:56 PM

Shit happens, get a new sponsor, and move on.

Right or wrong, there is nothing you can do.

There's only one side of the story, but they probably will, I showed this thread someone from TopBucks and said they will direct ccbill to it

Do you really think that TopBucks is on an up curve ?? Question for everyone, DO YOU REALLY THINK TOPBUCKS IS DOING BETTER AND BETTER ?..

ajrocks 09-28-2007 01:25 PM

Not Topbucks fault. The billing company will not give the program any info due to privacy issues. Happens all the time. The billers are the issue not the programs. The program can't do a thing, the biller blocks your id. Even if topbucks wanted to take sales from your account they can't and any transactions in that account get refunded to prevent chargebacks. What can I say Life isn't fair.

Got it. BUT if so and if you are a respectable sponsor why don't you give up such processors for some that don't do that to your webmasters. That was my point in all this

fatfoo 09-28-2007 01:32 PM

How about you stop doing fraudulent activities?

Ehmm...probably because EVERY biller has the same policies due to PRIVACY.

If any sponsor program dumps a biller because they can't give information due to privacy issues on FRAUDULENT transactions - then, quite frankly, I wouldn't promote them because obviously, they have their priorities fucked.

As for your previous question: Topbucks is a tightly run ship - with highly intelligent people at the reins. Before Topbucks goes down - 98% of the companies will be 6 feet under for about two years before them - that's how solid I KNOW they are.

Every week we have affilaites shut down by Epoch or CCBill.... And I'm glad. if your an affiliate and your being shut down.... Your doing something wrong.

Not totally true. There are false-positives that take place in this industry an awful lot.

commonsense 09-28-2007 04:35 PM

The nice thing about public forums is any idiot can say pretty much anything they want and people will discuss it.

Processors and affiliate programs do not benefit by kicking out affiliates that are making them money. So all signs point towards someone scamming.

I asked before and i'll ask again catalin, do you have one single program that can vouch for you as an affiliate?

corvette 09-28-2007 04:50 PM

catalin, can you send us your account id? [email protected], we have reviewed what we think your account is and would like to verify this with you. thanks

Not sure how this can help as the main reason why I started this thread was not to get my account back, but to express my "surprise" about some practices going on and a sponsor that does them. Trust is the most important thing I use to guide myself when working with someone and once that is lost nothing can be done

But I believe quite a few sponsors can vouch for me as an honest webmaster, you name one.. ( don't want to show off in any way, just don't see the point of naming names )

I made some money over time with one represented in this thread

catalin 09-28-2007 06:12 PM

The most important one of them :)

Fair enough. I doubt CCBill will post the information in this thread, but it would be cool if they did.

catalin - what you said is fair enough - the only thing I disagree on is that you're saying " 'a' sponsor that does them". As you can see - every sponsor does it, because it's simply what they 'have' to do in order to comply with the billing company.

Here's what I suggest - disguise your email & username and write to each of your sponsors and ask them the question: "If your processor advises you that a webmaster/affiliate has been flagged for fraudulent transactions, would you shutdown the account?"

I assure you that they all will answer yes.

Can the processor make a mistake? Yes.
Can it be a fluke that this fraud happens on your account (and you had nothing to do with it)? Yes, this is also a possibility.

The fact remains though - that the sponsor neither has the info on the fraud nor is it in their best interest to keep the account open.

Hope that helps.

Allison 09-28-2007 10:55 PM

CCbill provided us the back up information regarding the accounts which had fraudulent activity. All of them had very apparent and identifiable webmaster fraud associated with them.

They're risk department has offered to review your account specifically again if you choose to get in touch with them and provide them your TopBucks webmaster ID.
