boneprone 09-14-2002 02:57 PM

Golden Boy will take it.
I was going to go to this damn fight too, but couldnt make it this weekend.

I was at last weeks fight, and it was fucking awsome

Diluted O2 09-14-2002 02:58 PM

Golden Boy is lookin good, but i don't know man...it's gonna be a good fight.

boneprone 09-14-2002 03:00 PM

It will be good, but come on Vargas is a fucking chump.
Golden biy is going to teach him ANOTHER lesson

smoke 09-14-2002 03:02 PM

De Lahoya will destroy vargas!

boneprone 09-14-2002 03:03 PM

I wonder if the Golden boy is gunna come out like Roy Jones last week, rapping and dancing from the top of the rafters kinda like Apollo Creed in Rocky?

He mine as well cause hes gunna whip on em like he's British

hornybunny 09-14-2002 03:05 PM

Vargas will take it.

Im surprised security kick you out...

Bone was shouting quotes from the "Karate Kid" movie at the boxers.

"sweep the leg!"

"Strike first, strike hard, no mercy!"

boneprone 09-14-2002 03:06 PM

I was!

boneprone 09-14-2002 03:07 PM

UHH YEAH.
Ive seen both these figters fight in Person and live as I have for many boxing matches.

Do you know anythign about boxing?

boneprone 09-14-2002 03:20 PM

You want 100.00 on Vargas bro?
we can have a 3rd party hold it for us. and pay the winner

boneprone 09-14-2002 03:22 PM

I bet some of you actually bet on Woods last week!
lol

smoke 09-14-2002 03:28 PM

I think this fight will go down similar to the hopkins trinidad fight except that vargas will take more chances, De lahoya is way to seasoned for vargas and much quicker. Vargas wants a knockout and that will probally get him in trouble.

boneprone 09-14-2002 03:37 PM

hahaha.
Yeah i know.
Im just fuckin with ya. Trying to create contorversy and hoping to get some bets in!

hehehe.
This will be a fucking awsome fight. A huge fight for both fighters.

Who ever looses this one will pretty much be walking towards the sunset and will set the tempo for the rest of their career as it wines down.

boneprone 09-14-2002 03:39 PM

I*ve seen the golden boy look like shit at times.
Other times he's fucking unreal.

It all depends on him.
Its Delahoya vs Delahoya.

It all depends on his training and how bad he wanted this fight.

smoke 09-14-2002 03:40 PM

Hey bone I'll bet ya, I'll take de lahoya u take vargas, u in?

Steve 09-14-2002 03:43 PM

I hope Vargas opens his fuckin hole
[ this wide ]

smoke 09-14-2002 03:44 PM

Ive only seen de lahoya get his ass kicked twice,

first by Pernell Whitaker, thought de lahoya got a big break on the score cards.

second by Shane Mosley.

both of these fighters posses alot of speed wich gave the golden boy trouble.

I thought he was robbed in the Trinidad fight.

Vargas will have to depend on his power and fight risky.

de lahoya in 12.

Mr.Fiction 09-14-2002 04:13 PM

This is one of those fights (like the Tyson/Lewis fight) where whoever loses is going to look like a chump for a long time.

Nedder 09-14-2002 04:14 PM

I grew up a few blocks from Vargas, he graduated from my high school. Nothing but a punk, but he's strong.

Hate his guts. DLH by decision.

Nz

theking 09-14-2002 04:33 PM

Should be a good fight, and I think it is fifty-fifty either way.

boneprone 09-14-2002 04:34 PM

Sugar Shane Mosley lost that big fight a few weeks back and now he's pretty much done.

Too bad, he was really making a name for himself

boneprone 09-14-2002 04:36 PM

any of you be intrested in some pics from the Roy Jones fight?
I have em in my camera still

Speaking of Jones, do you or anyone else think he will actually step up into the heavyweight world?

Thrawn$ 09-14-2002 04:43 PM

Roy Jones Forever :thumbsup

Thrawn$ 09-14-2002 04:46 PM

Hustlin Entertainment 09-14-2002 05:18 PM

The golden boy will take this bout.

RaGe 09-14-2002 05:30 PM

I'll go with Vargas..

Ricky Martin is going down

dig420 09-14-2002 05:36 PM

Exxxotica, aren't you the MMA fighter? where do you train?

I would be shocked if he did, Jones is a great fighter but he is known for fighting nobodies. He doesnt posses the power to move up. It would be interesting to see him fight a good heavywieght though. He hasnt answered his critics yet, why start now!

dig420 09-14-2002 05:42 PM

Vargas is the naturally bigger fighter. I don't think he has Oscar's skills but if Oscar can't hurt him there's a chance Vargas will walk thru his punches. Oscar had monster power a couple weight classes down but nothing scary for a jr. middle

Vargas HAS shown a suspect chin though.. I gotta go with Oscar. Hooks better and faster than Trinidad, and we all know Vargas doesn't like that left hook. Even if Oscar can't stop him with one shot it'll wear on him pretty quick

Steve 09-14-2002 05:47 PM

I was just watching the preview, and Nancy(maybe) Duva said something I liked - "size does matter".

Of course, when my buddy married Duva's cousin in NJ right before Bowe vs Holyfield, I was scorned at the wedding reception for stating that "a good big man will beat a good little man". Hey, fuck them, they asked me for my opinion.

BT 09-14-2002 05:56 PM

Oscar is the man an will win by rounds!:winkwink:

SykkBoy 09-14-2002 07:17 PM

De La Hoya is going put a beating on Vargas like LAPD on a jaywalker....

Im just an amateur fighter, with one fight behind me. I have two fights coming up in November and December. Its just something I like to do for fun.

I train with a local Mixed Martial Arts club here in S. Oregon. We are a combination of Muay Thai, Wrestling, and Jiu Jitsu. It's all amateur, but we've got some pretty good fighters in there. We currently hold the FCFF Light Weight and Light Heavy Weight belts. Also had a guy fight in SuperBrawl which is a pretty big show.

It's just wholesome family fun!

smoke 09-14-2002 09:28 PM

Like I said before De La Hoya is a seasoned fighter with superior speed over vargas. It showed when Vargas came out looking for the knockout and the golden boy let him punch himself out. Vargas was out of juice in the 7th and then the golden boy destroyed him!!! What a great knockout for oscer!

Mr.Fiction 09-14-2002 09:29 PM

That was awesome! Oscar schooled Vargas.

Makes up for the money I wasted on Tyson / Lewis.

Exxxotica 09-14-2002 09:33 PM

I didnt get to see it.... only read bits and pieces on the net. Sounded like a nice fight.

Steve 09-14-2002 09:35 PM

sweet left hook from Oscar
give the Devil his due

JustJen 09-14-2002 09:38 PM

so Oscar won????

It was a great fight, Vargas came out early showing his strength pounding oscer on the ropes But he punched himself out by the 7th. Oscer got his jab off from the get, and from the 7th on he destroyed vargas. Vargas just simply shut down and quit throwing punches, meanwhile Oscer got off. TKO after a knockdown in the 11th.

What are you talking about? Tyson was chump WAY before the Lewis fight. Tyson was a chump as soon as he decided his wife would be a good opponent to fight. He was a chump when he became The Heavyweight Champions of Cell Block D. I liked watching Tyson back in his championship days cause he was a machine. He's never been the same since he had his "break" for jail time.

McAttack 09-14-2002 09:45 PM

That was definetly a great fight tonight. Such vast differences between the two. On the ropes, Vargas was very strong and very fast. A little too wild and that's probably cause he's not controlling that anger of his. That's fine, he'll learn to control that in time. In the middle of the ring, Oscar was sweet to watch. You saw Vargas was wearing down by round 6 though.

:thumbsup

I nailed that fight.

Nedder 09-14-2002 10:27 PM

Hey smoke, great observations, I think u nailed everything right on....

only disagreement I have is that I was watching the Whittaker/DLH 'bout and as much as I wanted Whittaker to win, he did nothing but juke and bob and weave and goof around the whole time, land one shot and dance the rest of the round, I was embarrassed for him personally, definitely not the Pernell of year's past.

Tonight's fight was great. I could tell, even when it looked like DLH was in trouble he was calculating, looking for his counters...that one judge that had Vargas ahead by 3 points oughta have her license revoked, but I've seen worse...that's boxing.

Nz:2 cents:

This was a few years ago so my memory maybe off but I thought I remember whitaker using his speed and oscer not be able to defend it well, I know whitiker doesnt have power but I thought he frustrated oscer and took him out of his game. I could be wrong though, In any case De la hoya proved that he is among the greatest.
