Can you get internet access anywhere with a blackberry?

Im a little technologically backward when it comes to cell phones and what you can and cant do with the good ones.

Can you get internet access almost anywhere with a blackberry? I used to think that with a wireless connection on a laptop, you could go anywhere and have access to the internet. But I quickly learned this is bullshit unless you are in a very small defined 'hotspot' zone where wireless access is available. Is it the same deal with blackberries?

If not, what kind of speeds are typical? And how much are the charges?

I just replaced my last phone with a 3xx razor...I wish I had gotten a BB instead...the interweb blows on a normal phone :/...or I'll just wait a week or two to pickup an iphone...I'm up in the air on which one to go with yet...

HouseHead 09-26-2007 08:47 PM

bb's and smartphones are damn expensive if you already belong to a provider!

Spunky 09-26-2007 08:50 PM

Like 90 bucks a month for service a bb here..

It works anywhere you have cell coverage (where I live, only Cingular/ATT offers coverage and that's because we're the highest point in the town so we have a tower on our mountain ;) ).

I have the unlimited plan and love it. I know this sounds stupid, but I use Google the most of anything. Especially if I'm trying to get somewhere. I can Google the address and then plug it into my GPS. I also use it a lot when I'm reading to the point where I take it outside with me ONLY so I can look up words I don't know :)

I LOVE my Blackberry!!! (and I can text so fast I amaze myself ;) )

Neat :)

So internet is a bit faster than 56k?

Odie 09-27-2007 11:25 AM

jsut got the new BB curve in charcoal grey it's got a camera w/ flash and the internet is pretty fast plus it's got gps so I'll never get lost! lol

rogers offers an unlimited data plan for $120 and I just upgraded my razor so it wasn't expensive. :)
