Radio shows for our industry - whatever happened to all of them?
Are they still going on?
I cannot remember the last time I got a reminder to listen to for instance HumpDayShow etc. ???? |
Clusterfuck Theater After Dark ran it's course then gave birth to After Midnight Live, Both shows ran for quite a bit, 4 Hours + every Friday night.
But I got bored, switched to a WM/Surfer format and then just kind of folded up. I have been toying with the notion of bringing the show back, but not too sure just yet, would need to find some sponsors first I'm not gonna do a 4 hour show for free lol. -Loki- |
Someone needs to bring these back.... I don't know of any radio shows these days.....
|
|
rmk and jayman used to run that shit back in the day
and dmoneyshow holla |
They all turned into plugfests and were advertising heavy in my opinion. the radio talent wasn't interesting or funny. its very very hard to have good radio. it takes a personality years and years to develop their draw.
this is just my opinion though. |
I wouldn't mind listening to something that was purely business talk without music and cheap attempts at entertainment. Maybe only a couple times a week for an hour or so.

Most were biased self promoting crap that only 12 people listened to. Not worth it, I assume.

i remember when me and joe hollar started the first adult wm radio program... livexxxradio.com it was called... then Fm put a bunch of money into a bigtime production and the webmaster radio show proliferated from there... i kept livexxxradio going for about 8 months, interviewed PK, Seth warshavsky, steve cohen etc... was fun but I got bored of it, coupled with being busy i just let it go.
fight the good fight! |

So there are shows still airing then? Because I never get any emails or ICQs about it anymore like I used to.
As for "self promoting crap" - well, isn't everything that is done in this industry pretty much just that Brad? I mean, a LOT of articles in magazines, posts on GFY (like yours) etc. are also pretty much "self promoting" stuff, right? I enjoyed listening to the shows when I knew about them - didn't have time to be on the chat rooms, but just listening in was always fun. Why don't the shows that still airs spam this thread with times, next shows, guests etc.? |
I stopped doing them because I got bored of it, put my attention into other projects.
But I am working on releasing 2 new shows, 2 totally different formats. One is a video show with pre-taped pieces, going on location to offices and doing interviews, KB and I are hosting it. Gonna do it live in a studio, take callers and play clips from earlier in the week. The domain isn't up yet, the show will be called "A Bro Thing". It's geared for mainstream audiences and adult webmasters, a cross over show. We'll talk about the porn industry, music industry and celebrity stuff. We might have B Real come to the studio and rap, maybe Ice Cube will pay his respects on the set, who knows. Anything is possible. Then, the D$ Show will return with a new format of recorded interviews (over the phone). I'm not sure yet if I even want to bother with the live chat room, nothing but a few haters ruining good shows. It's been a while, looking forward to coming back with this. |

heh Humpday with Bob and Jay was great, I miss that show |
I loved the old "Ron Stewart Show"
|
Maxcash Live was pretty useful back in 2002. It was actual info instead of bad music and ads.
|
D i say stay away from the chat rooms and keep the advertising to a bare minimum and pump up the personality and creativity of the shows, it takes enormous time to pull off good radio. just listen to any of the commercial radio and imagine the workload that goes into it. the imaging and production alone is a full time job. as for the advertisers. if you take only the biggest fish you can get away with 2-3 advertisers and the plugs can be longer, but less plugs. if you go the small fish route, you'll have to have 20 of them or so and it turns into a mess. those numbers are just an example, but i am talking merely theory here.

Anyone ever come stomping back into this arena?
We stopped producing YNOTRadio, much love to those guys, to produce mainstream shizzy. Wondering if we should bring ole Johnny back and turn up the heat in adult again. |
lack of personalities that can keep people engaged
too much plugging of advertisers not enough entertainment value |
when radio first started it rocked... but as time went by, people got less interested because the market got flooded with anyone who could run winamp. You had everyone and their mother doing shows....
Then advertisers got ripped off, which screwed that end... Ahhh the good ol days... When I stopped doing radio last, I had a full slot of advertisers. Which showed me at the time that they were willing to sponsor a show as long as the ads werent 3k... LOL what a joke that was when people were charging that much... LOL |
need PornCasts. I'm in on the project if anyone wants to get together on this send me mail or hit my ICQ#
|
I heard KSEX just went belly up.
|
The bottom line is adult webmasters are a small marketing group for advertisers.
