Man in terror scare says woman is lying

NAPLES, Florida (CNN) -- The Georgia woman who prompted Friday's terror scare was "flat-out lying" when she told authorities she overheard three Muslim men at a restaurant laughing about September 11 and making suspicious comments, one of the men said late Friday.

"How many other people witnessed this event that supposedly took place, first of all? Did they ask the server who served us? Did they ask anybody else that was in the restaurant? How is it that one person can pick up a phone and make any statement that they will and we end up [in custody]?" said Ayman Gheith at a rest area shohahahay after they were released.

"What she has said is obviously a lie."

Gheith has a bushy black beard and was wearing traditional Muslim headgear. "She saw obviously the way I was dressed, and maybe she put a little salt and pepper in her story," he said.

Asked about his "suggestion" that the woman might have lied, he said, "I'm not suggesting, I'm telling you she's flat-out lying."


He said he didn't blame authorities because they were simply working off the information given to them, although he did note it was unusual to get "pulled over by 700 cops."

"The police officers were very gracious. They were very nice people. They did their job, obviously," he said.


At the time of their release, authorities called the incident a prank by the men, but officials were backing off that theory a few hours later.

"I think it's premature at this point in time to call it a prank or a hoax," said Carlos Alvarez, the director of the Miami-Dade Police Department.

the other night when we were leaving the Luxor, there was a family of arabs, some of which wore turbans and I tell ya, I wish I had a turban...other people on the sidewalk got the fuck out of their way...

I did not want to comment about this incident until more information came out, and there still needs to be more information before I come to my own final conclusions. When I first learned of this incident the incident was still and on going event, but my first thought was to doubt the woman's story. I wondered what terrorists would be dumb enough to be sitting in a public restaurant and laughing about the 9/11 incident, let alone discussing a plan to launch an attack on 9/13. Another thing I wondered about is, she stated they were speaking in perfect English without an accent. I am of the opinion that the woman should be seriously interrogated. She may have just wanted her fifteen minutes of fame. Since the media as they always do, exploited the event, I suspect some copycats to try for their fifteen minutes of fame. I will repeat that until more information is forthcoming I will not make any final conclusions.

From another article, it turns out that they did pay the toll at the toll booth too. The second car paid both tolls:

Around midnight Thursday, one of the cars, with Illinois plates, reportedly drove through a toll booth on Interstate 75 in Collier County, Fla., near Naples, without paying. A spokesman for the Florida Turnpike said the driver of a second car paid both tolls.

This story did remind me of the antics that were reported of some of the 9/11 hijackers prior to their attacks. It was reported as the FBI traced back their activities in the weeks leading up to the attacks. The hijackers were known to have gone into strip clubs and get trashed, and start spouting off AntiAmerican rhetoric. They would say things like, "soon america will be taught a great lesson." etc etc. Imagine how easily they could have been caught because of that.

So yeah, it is possible for terrorists to be that fucking stupid. Just imagine how different things might have turned out if them shooting their mouths off had led to their plans being revealed ahead of time. Now THAT would have kicked ass.

Onto this story. Maybe the woman is full of shit. It's also possible the guys pulled this to get their own 15 minutes, and/or line themselves up a nice $20 million dollar lawsuit for racial profiling, abuse or whatever.

Do you really think she has anything worth suing her for? I hope the police really investigate her story. She probably is not smart enough to withstand it. I think the keyword here is RADICAL. Every religion/country has radical extremists that go too far. Now it may seem that muslim's go further than other extremists, but that's no reason to abolish them completely. My bad missed that. That is a totally misguided judgment. First off the guy with the Turban, and beard is not really the problem. Anyone paying attention would know that the highjackers blended and are trained to blend in with the customs around them. I don't support that type of action, everyone has rights. I like how so many of you automatically believe the guys because they say the lady is lying. Suddenly she's a racist who made it all up? Whats make their story any more credible than hers?

Here's how I figure it went down. She was probably looking at them weird because she is a little paranoid of muslims in the current environment. So they decided to fuck with her and made damn sure they only made the remarks when she was there and the waitress etc was away.

So then they get busted by the cops. What the fuck do you think they are going to do, ADMIT IT? They know damn well if they admitted to it, they'd be looking at a shitload of charges like causing a panic, terroristic threats, and the list would go on and on. It'd be like screaming "I have a bomb" in a movie theater, then saying "Oh just kidding" a couple hours later. OF COURSE they are going to deny it if they did it.

So maybe she is lying. What would her motive be? To see three guys get pulled over for nothing.

Now then, maybe the guys are lying. What would their motive be? To avoid several felony charges for the 'prank' they pulled on a woman who was annoying them in a restaurant.

So which party has more reason to lie?

I think that the woman's son said "Oh mom they are just messing with you" or whatever it was he said speaks volumes. This was HER talking about her own son.
