Can Freedom of speech be improperly used?

In my view it can not.

It can when the freedom part is taken to mean thoughtless abandonment. People seem to forget freedom doesnt mean anarchy.

So if someone was to spread lies about you that directly hurt your business and reputation you would have no problem with that?

When it affects another person's right to life, liberty, or property - it is abuse.

One person's rights end where another's begins.

When speech harms someone else, when it causes instant reasonable panic in people in public, causes damage, or is libel or slander.

Any freedom can be improperly used. That's the real cost of freedom. People are obliged to take responsibility for their actions.

Unfortunately, more and more people today want all the rights with none of the responsibility.

There are different types of speech.

Political speech is the most protected.

Commercial speech is not.
