Do you tip stewardesses?

When you buy a drink for $5, do you tip them?

MetaMan 09-25-2007 01:02 PM

as far as my expierience they are not allowed to accept it, i have tried it a couple times and both times they said "i am not a waitress".

not to sure if that is everywhere though.

That is what I had always thought, and I see to recall having a tip refused many years ago. However, the last time I flew the girls sitting next to me tipped ours, and she accepted it.

So I really don't know what's kosher now.

it could also depend on the airline / country, i just dont bother anymore.

i guess it is understandable why they do not.

I wouldn't and i tip just about everyone. to me that's like tipping the guy behind the counter at Dunkin Donut. I see alot of them putting up tip cups now and I just can't do it. If I'm ordering a meal and your serving me then yes but not getting a cup of coffee.

Nononono you do NOT tip them in front of other passengers. They HATE that.

Should I slip it in their top as I am getting off the plane? One lump sum, so to speak.

CurrentlySober 09-25-2007 01:16 PM

Only tip if they let you fuck them in the ass in the restroom, in order for you to join the 'mile high' club :)

pr0 09-25-2007 01:22 PM

you gotta slip it in their hand.....

the training says something along the lines of...if you take a tip, someone may think the tipper is being given preferential treatment, thus causing an issue in flight possibly

so if you ask......no.....but if you give discretely or are in your own row, with no one else, your good....& yes you will receive special treatment : ) free beers etc.

I tip according to the service I received (good / bad service)
I dont care what the standard is regarding a tip where I am, if I got some crap, had to wait for too long or if it was hard to reach a waiter while being there, I dont leave any tips.
Back in the clubbing times I usually gave big tips on my first order so the bartenders would remember me when we go back from refuelling at the bar, then it would normally not be requirred to wait in line like other guests ;-)

At least the dude at dunkin donuts more than likely is not only serving you but also made the damn donuts. Well at least at donut places here often there is only one person working.
Hell maybe if I did tip the donut dude he would not have a problem firing up the fryer again and hooking up fresh donuts if I do not arrive on the hour and instead on the half hour. Or just maybe he wont load my box up with ones he knows have been sitting in that shelf for a few hours.

I don't think they have been "stewardesses" since the 60's
