WOW EXTREME Associates Will No Longer Produce DVDs
I knew the physical goods game was bad but this is really putting the nail in the coffin. I was selling dvds about 2 years ago and saw that the biz was dead then so I changed gears. ONly now are the big boys throwing in the towel. Very interesting how things change...

Good make people get their porn where they are suppost to... The Internet! :pimp
|
dont interesting..old
|
I was very surprised to hear they are only going to distribute via hotmovies.com. They must have worked out a great deal that pays they at least three times more than the standard 20% that hot movies normally pays.
|
The reason they're doing this is that they have shit content and couldn't sell it, period. I'd be willing to bet they will be out of biz (as far as shooting new content) within the next 12 months. People with great content are still moving great numbers. Those with crap will just fall to the wayside like this. Good riddence to them. Capitolism at it's best.

Git may be right. You have to keep innovating, or you die.
|
It was only a matter of time. BTW, the dvd market is not dead just them.
Who has ever considered them "big boys" in this industry. |

Anyway, can you blame them? Didn't they just get done (or in the middle of) with a huge federal legal battle? (I may be wrong here....but I don't think I am) |
Rob is a good guy... hes just not making the best decisions right now...
|
Yup eventually all studios will produce for streaming ....internet...in about 5 years DVD will be like VHS is now...

Also having seen porn DVDs on my computer then watching the same sceen at the fastest streaming rate I can tell you DVDs kick streamings ass in quality. Unless Verizon starts serving the entire US with 30 Mbps FiOS in the next 5 years and VOD sites start streaming movies higher than they do now, steaming is YEARS, probably at least a decade, away from taking over actual physical content. |
I think some studios will be pulling back from the internet licesning and returning to DVDs only for new releases due to the theft, content whoring, and low percentage of sales they receive after giving everybody their cuts.
|
There will always be a demand for DVDs to watch on the TV.
|
I can tell you why because rob black is a fucking scumbag who owes everyone and his brother and there are no more replicators that will extend him credit or press his DVDs till he pays what he owes.
dont be another of his "internet marks and losers" tell him fuck off. |

The DVD game is alive, but you have to put out top notch stuff to get noticed... for instance, Jules Jordan Video and Evil Angel. Their DVD's are still selling because they have a reputation of good product and good business ethics. I see this move by Rob as a last ditch effort before packing it in. No big deal... not everyone can survive. - PornAddict |
I am not sure that the dvd game is viable for the majority today. I work with a lot of distributors. Even the best of the best today only gets about 1000 copies sold off the bat if they are lucky.. Average dvds are going for about 2.44 cents each and you cant move numbers in the thousands. I am talking about straight hardcore here as the niche market does a lot better. DVD is just another revenue stream these days but a shrinking one. I know for example spunkmouth gives dvds away for free just to get traffic to the website. Pretty smart I think.

There will always (for lack of a better term) be some of the population of people that want to "own" a tangible version of whatever they own.
DVD's do that. 3 years from now, it'll be HD-DVD (or some variety there-of)... 7 years from now, some form of Super-DVD's... 20 years from now, HD-LED's... .. or whatever... point is, until we evolve beyond having hands, there will always be a market for tangible media, imho. :2 cents: |
You all are actually talking legit business about content and dvd's with sobe?
Gesh the world is indeed fucked up. |
yea and why not? sobegirl is selling videos in the adult biz for almost a decade now. We have a lot of projects that I don't even talk about here. In the 10 years I have learned a lot about both the physical world distribution, online distribution and pay site mgt.

You guys, Extreme's been out of business for a lot longer than anyone here seems to realize.
|
what do you mean out of biz.. they have new releases. The stuff looks pretty good to me.
