How long have you been with your webhost? Couldn't they give you some sort of up front warning that you're approaching your limit and they are advising you to upgrade or maybe to carry it for you and charge you retroactively for it? WTF???

Get a real hosting plan that doesn't cap you. www.phatservers.com <- you'll be happy.

good problem... having your site shut down is a good problem?
I would have been on the phone setting up hosting with a real company instead of one pulling craplike that, unless you had that in your service plan.

it happened to me with serverprovider, their system shoots a friendly email 2 hours before they shut your site down, which of course happened on the weekend to me so only 3 international phonecalls and 14 hours of downtime and frustration later the things got fixed

and they said - dude, what are you bitching about, you've exceeded your limit

and I can see their point because you can get hotlinked from a huge CHinese board and burn a few hundred bucks in a matter of hours but the least they can do is configure their system to mail you when you reach say 90% of your bandwidth, not 99.99%

Who is your host? You don't usually run into that anymore except with some really low end hosting companies.

The last time that happened to me was in 1997, and after that I made sure I went with adult friendly hosts!
