Women! Take a pill to decrease your periods!! BUT..

The fucking commercial running 3-4 times an hour on a bunch of channels.
At the very end fairly unaudable you may hear...

"SEASONIQUE? has serious risks, which can be life threatening. They include blood clots, stroke, and heart attack or death."

This is NOT normal.

dude.... all birth control methods (via pill/patch/injection) carry those risks. "Especially women over 35 and those who smoke"

silvercash amber 09-21-2007 10:08 AM

yeah all birth controls have those risk

RuthB 09-21-2007 10:08 AM

actually yeah, those side effects are commonly stated on birth control pills

D 09-21-2007 10:20 AM

Yeah... Pills, in general, carry some side-effects that make you stop and go "hmm..."

And the spermicide on your condom/sponge increases the risk of yeast infection.

Chances are - if it's not "food" or "water" and your body didn't put it there itself, whatever you're putting in is going to have some adverse affect or another. :2 cents:

Asprin has those side effects, I think.

At least they didn't mention upset stomach, vomiting, diarrhea, or priapism.

There's one commercial for some medication that helps psoriasis (sp?) that has some really scary side effects. I wish I could remember it word for word, but it starts off small with "infection of the injection site", and then builds up to "complications that may include death". Crazy.

All BC pills run that risk- but to the other ladies on the board- for some reason the risk of clotting / stroke/ etc is higher with "Yaz", so I'd stear clear. :2 cents:

I have been doing that well before they made a pill brand for it.

been doing it since I was 16 . it's nothing new they are just now trying to make money for it.

and all bC pills have those risk whether you take them regularly or have long breaks in betweens.

it's nothing new.

RevengeBucks_Monica 09-21-2007 10:43 AM

I'm on a birth control that reduced my periods to nil. It ROCKS.

The risks for most medications are scary. You have to look at the statistics and find out whether it's worth any worrying though.

Pretty much all pills have those risks...
