Do you think like a surfer?

When you are putting out a program / site / paysite etc... Do you try and think like a surfer to maximize your product, or do you just assume that you already know what the surfer wants as to not spend any more time on it than necessary?

DateDoc 09-18-2007 10:13 AM

If you do not know your market you will more than likely fail or be a lot less successful than you could have been.

LuvPimpinYou 09-18-2007 10:24 AM

That's really where I am headed...Because I have seen a lot of site/programs etc...that really don't take the surfer into consideration at all, and was just wondering why.

Sosa 09-18-2007 10:25 AM

of course I do when writing some text, gallery descriptions, and creating thumbnails etc.

Angie77 09-18-2007 11:07 AM

I assume I already know what they want.

Why is that?

DaddyHalbucks 09-18-2007 11:14 AM

I try to. It helps conversions... alot.

Flynn 09-18-2007 11:21 AM

lowest common denominator. as the_senator says... KISS.

solomonYBM 09-18-2007 11:24 AM

you have to incorporate the best of both worlds

JayDeeZee 09-18-2007 11:32 AM

That's what I would think....

I think it's one of the main reasons that most conversion ratios are so shitty, because the surfer isn't appreciated enough.

CurrentlySober 09-18-2007 11:54 AM

I allways try to think a surfer... Even in so far as using standard ie 7 with no add ons etc... Just as 'most' surfers will...
You have to see your site through thier eyes. Ask yourself, if YOU were a surfer... Would YOU join? If the answers no... Then you need to rethink your sites...

LuvPimpinYou 09-18-2007 12:59 PM

Ok...something else to ask yourselves...

Do you actually get input from your surfers? And if you do, do you apply it to your business?

mattz 09-18-2007 01:00 PM

I already know what the surfer wants, porn.

The surfer wants to be satisfied, no matter what he/she is looking for...what are you going to do to fill that need?

other than "just give it porn"

gandalfuy 09-18-2007 01:30 PM

I always choose niches that I enjoy myself, so if I think a girl is hot, I assume my surfers do as well. And with a strong marketing background the first thing you learn in marketing is to think like the customer, not the seller.

bigalownz 09-18-2007 11:23 PM

that way i only promote companies that i would sign up to
if i was a surfer looking for porn

Paul Markham 09-19-2007 01:12 AM

If you're trying to sell something it helps if you can think like the buyer.

Fap 09-19-2007 01:45 AM
