About Level 3

Level 3 (Nasdaq: LVLT) is an international communications company headquartered in Broomfield, Colorado. The company operates one of the largest communications and Internet backbones in the world.

Well , not a datacenter as such, but a huge bandwith provider ....

many different ways you can rate a 'top' datacenter. there is no one datacenter that is 'the best' in everything sorry

Do any datacenters use geothermal heat pumps for cooling and to reduce electricity consumption?

MediumPimpin 09-17-2007 08:29 AM

I would have to say they are in Herndon, VA, that's where the east coast ring is.

crazies 09-17-2007 08:44 AM

Terremark in Miami is one of the 5. Mojohost is the only host that I know of that is in this facility. I read something recently that stated what the top 5 data centers in the US were but have forgotten what the other 4 were.

Why 09-17-2007 08:52 AM

Probably NYC, Seattle or LA because they will have better global connectivity to the rest of the world not just the United States.

Equinix builds awesome facilities but there are much nicer private ones around the country.

Why 09-17-2007 08:56 AM

MSN just built a facility in Washington state out side of my hometown. It uses outside air to lower the cooling costs by 60% because most of the time it is below 70F externally, so why cool it recirculated air. Yahoo and Google will both be following suit soon with new centers in the same vicinity.

tranza 09-17-2007 09:05 AM

No idea man....

SinisterStudios 09-17-2007 09:33 AM

Id have to say one of the top ones is the new Equinix Facility going live on Nov 1st in NJ. Its 425,000 sq ft and its state of the art. I toured it the other day and was very impressed. The equinix facility i have my equiptment is impressive, but this new one is probally one of the best i have ever seen, and i have been in alot of DC's.

I toured the Terremark facility thanks to Brad from Mojohost. Holy shit that place is off the hook.

Equinix is the king of the game for Carrier Neutral centers by far. All of their facilities are extremely well done.

SunGard has a lot of my mainstream clients in there as of late. Its the place to be here in Philadelphia @ 401 North Broad Street. Not to mention their forte is DR services.

The NAP of Americas in Miami - astounding in terms of build out.

borked 11-04-2007 09:42 AM

top10 for reliability that is

I have to agree 100%. I have visited many data centers and by far Equinix has the edge, especially the new ones in New Jersey as SinisterStudios said above. :2 cents::2 cents:
