Why don't they tell us at the time? Terror Threat? 'It Was All About The Oil'

Terror Threat? 'It Was All About The Oil'

Quote:

Alan Greenspan, the former head of the US Federal Reserve, says oil was the primary motive for the Iraq war.

Alan Greenspan was US Fed boss for 18 years Mr Greenspan, one of America's most respected elder statesmen, said it was politically inconvenient to acknowledge the fact.

The declaration is made in his memoirs, The Age of Turbulence: Adventures in a New World, due to be published on Monday.

The US and Britain have always maintained that the war to oust Saddam Hussein was about weapons of mass destruction - not oil.

US President George Bush said Saddam was a threat to world security because he could sell the weapons on to terrorists.
Why don't they say at the time? They would lose their jobs which is more important than people losing their lives.

And the US economy going into the shitter. Unless you work in the oil or arms industry.

Paul Markham 09-16-2007 01:05 AM

What annoys me about all the people writing their biographies and now denouncing the war is the hypocrisy. So now they want to sell their book they are coming clear about it. If they felt so strongly about it why did they not say so at the time?

It's damn obvious.. They wouldn't have been able to "sell" it if they had been honest.. They've known since day one they weren't going to be pulling out for decades.. I'm sure even the Dems really know that but are able to use the fact to pound the republicans into the dirt while lieing to the public just as much as the repubs.

The dude is old like ancient old.
1. Chance to clear his personal guilt.
2. If certain people would of thought he was going public while still in office he would of died of a heart attack or something. Now they can spin and or just dismiss him with "not knowing all the facts" etc.

He maybe old and ancient but he's still one of the 'sharpest' knives in the box....

I expect they will try to spin and discredit him... but its more damage to the American International reputation, as Greenspan is very well respected world-wide...

Now, if only the UK's former chancellor would be as forthcoming with the truth... we might even vote him in for another term...

No the old/ancient portion was to go along with the heart attack story. Just forgot to link it. See if in office he had a "health" issue that was fatal who would of thought anything else but age?

Almost 10 million kids die each year throughout the world... but they'll spend billions (and kill 10s of thousands) in the name of protecting the few thousand that might be killed in a terrorist attack... Does that seem like the actions of any sane person?

The ends justify the means. Its one of those "our people are worth more than your people" attitudes.

Greenspan is now saying what the "crackpot conspiracy theorists" have been saying all along.

as long as there is mankind, there will be hatred, there will be endless war, its all man knows.

Impeachment anyone?

ClevelandSlim 09-16-2007 08:51 AM

Hey Paul... what's up man.

I was at the operation Desert Storm. When the war was over I got to spend three weeks camped so close to the burning oil wells I could feel the heat. Going into Op Des Storm, I had the impression it was for the Kuwaitis. But the weeks spent near the oil wells left me with a crystal clear belief it was about the oil.

listening to an economist talk about world politics is like listening to me extoll the virtures of sigwhoring.
neither of us know shit about the respective subjects

Gregory Black 09-16-2007 09:03 AM

History of the world in 3 words....."Sheep get slaughtered"

By the way, Bush is a merely a puppet so if any of you had a braincell to spare you would not waste your time pointing fingers at him. By putting the bulk of the blame on Bush you are merely playing into the hands of the very power you oppose.

Hahaha... so you, being a low life porn slinger with no relation to politics what so ever is in more of a position to tell us what we should think about this war than a veteran politician who was in the middle of it all..... because he was... gasp... an economist!

wyldworx 09-16-2007 09:21 AM

Paul my freind, i have learnt to make fun of it.
see this and you will understand why finding it was a barrell of laughs....
...it was an old tv commercial we had running in oz about 15-20 years ago - i think it was used as a strategy in current political campaigns.

So you believe the gov manufactured the cause/motive for the war but you totally reject any idea that the gov manufactured any facts about 9-11?

So if you believe something then it's a conspiracy but if someone else believes something then it's a "conspiracy theory".

:)

As opposed to you who is a veteran... what exactly?
What exactly have you done in politics?

I bet that even if W. Bush himself came out with a news conference telling how he fooled everyone and it was all about the oil... you'd hit the boards telling us your latest little tales of why we should not believe any of it.

The only thing you are better than me at is believing your own crap. :glugglug

stuart, I know one time long ago mommy told you you were a smart little boy and you took it to heart but seriously, a piece of advice, no one thinks you're that bright in the real world and using your scary keyboard skills to try to change that really doesn't change your place in the world.

teomaxxx 09-16-2007 10:43 AM

The current direct costs of war are around 0.5 trilions of dollars (non-direct costs are estimated much higher then this), could made this world much safer, if it was dedicated to energy efficiency and savings. Even lesser costs of oil, would shut up all those guys like Chavez, Putin and Ahmadinezad.

I thought everybody always knew it was about the oil.

You'd have to be kinda slow to think otherwise.

All the data was easily available.

I guess it's nice of Greenspan to state the obvious.

Put your thinking cap on.

Greeenspan = Jew
Jew = does not want war affiliated with the interests of the Jewish people
Jew = will support the war as a "patriot"
Jew = knows that it is in his best interest that the US is there and will blame it on oil to deflect attention to his real desire.
