naked hosting vs webair

i'm not lookin for one line spam posts.

naked hosting, $50 setup fee. $10/month.
100g storage, 1k gig transfer.
is the service worth it?

webair.
$10 setup fee. $10/month
5000 MB Storage
250 Gigabyte Transfer

Not a techie, want to host multiple traffic-directing sites to affiliate programs. know enough to get started, dont want to know about anyone but naked hosting or or webair. who has used them, and what do you think?

Cash 09-14-2007 10:53 PM

Welcome to GFY :)

pussyluver 09-14-2007 10:55 PM

just go with webair and charge on.

Calico Jack 09-14-2007 11:04 PM

Been very happy happy with Naked Hosting for a while now. Just moved one of my sites to them last week and the move was seemless. Support is spot on and fast, sites haven't been down since I started with them...and you can't argue with the price. That is why they're in my sig! I'm one very satisfied customer.

minusonebit 09-15-2007 12:15 AM

Get a real host. See my siggy below for an example of same.

seira 09-15-2007 12:16 AM

i have had nothing but issues with webair but that is my opinion.

Zuzana Designs 09-15-2007 12:17 AM

I have had nothing but a great host with webair :)

pr0 09-15-2007 12:45 AM

get at the very least a shared machine....like a 3-4 person vpn

don't get virtual hosting.....its just bad business

fris 09-15-2007 04:53 AM

dont cheap out if its an important site, i mainly use virtual just to host banners, nothing big.

fuzzylogic 09-15-2007 05:06 AM

i have been using NH for four years straight. i host lots of websites on them. support is fast, friendly and sharp/precise. i have experienced less than one hour of downtime with NH during the fours years.

TurboAngel 09-15-2007 05:09 AM

I have been happy at Webair for 7 years now.

:)

HomerSimpson 09-15-2007 05:51 AM

Here is my opinion...

I've used that webair and it sucks...
Constant downtimes... Slow servers (max. speed is locked to 350kb/s, so if you host videos your customers will get pissed off).

Naked Hosting - never tired since I don't like paying setup fees.
Setup fee is just a ripoff....

My Advice is to go with HostGator

Why:
- same thing as Naked Hosting but no setup fee
- same level of service (phone, 24-7chat, trouble tickets)
- both Naked and Gator have cPanel

I have few hosting accounts with HostGator and I never had any downtimes or problems so far...

Jet - BANNED FOR LIFE 09-15-2007 05:56 AM

i heard webair is down a lot

dont know much about nakedhosting tbh

kacy 09-15-2007 08:17 AM

You can avoid the set up by paying for a year and you will also get a free domain name :)

geeknik 09-15-2007 08:44 AM

I've had a dedicated server with Webair for a while now, and while their upstream provider has had an issue or two, I've been pretty happy with Webair and when I'm not, their team of people make sure they offer me something to make me happy. ;) Go Webair! :thumbsup

notoldschool 09-15-2007 08:49 AM

Every server will have issues, small and large...its how the support handles it and how quickly that really matters. Webair has worked well for me for years for my small sites.

Fap 09-15-2007 08:56 AM

Im on a dedicated with webair and loving it

allofzen 09-15-2007 09:14 AM

Both seem like quality hosts.

Webair dedicated seems bulletproof from the numerous posts.

Since I am curious, I read their terms of service and wonder a bit about this:

7b.) INODES
The use of more then 50,000 INODES will result in account suspension. Accounts found exceeding 50,000 INODES will not be backed up on our backup servers. A INODE is the actual file or directory and not the size of that file or directory. For example your index.html file is 1 INODE. A directory called homework is counted as 1 INODE as well.

http://www.hostgator.com/tos.shtml

first time I see that in TOS ....

Boss Traffic Jim 09-15-2007 11:50 AM

I hear nothing but bad horroe stories about webair especially their virtual plans. Don't listen to the obvious paid board whores, but if you sift through all their Bull you will see real users giving their real stories.:2 cents::2 cents:

You're so full of shit i could smell it before i booted up my p.c.

Why would a company who charges you an overage for b/w cap your server at 350k? More like your cable company has you capped at 350k.

Retard :2 cents:

pr0 09-15-2007 11:56 AM

yea definitely listen to people with their refcode in the link.......for sure

i have no vested interest in promoting webair, other than their shit fucking OWnzzzz

First I'm not sayin' that for Dedicated than for Virtual?
And how I now?
Well, my virutal account had numerous problems and in month and a half I had about 3 days of downtime (as far as I know). I descided to move those sites to my dedicated box. So when I was wget-ting files from WebAir, I needed couple hours to download that to one of my Dedicated servers... and download of bigger files never exceeded 400kb/s.... When I wget from other servers speed goes over 5MB/s (not mbps than mb/s)...

PS: I've heard mostly good things about webair dedicated...

Jace 09-15-2007 01:36 PM

the few times I tried webair it was the same issue...virtuals always down...if it wasn't the mysql it was the server itself

and yes, I have heard only great things about their dedicated boxes...

one big customer of theirs told me though, that if it wasn't for him having direct communication with Mike they wouldn't be with them..any time they have to go through the normal support channels it is chaos...this was about a year or so ago though, from what I have been reading they have stepped up their game a bit

Cyber Fucker 09-15-2007 01:43 PM

I would choose Webair, though I have never tried naked hosting, good luck man!

Off course that NH and HG are not the same...
even the names are different :upsidedow

But I'll have to notice that virtual hosting packages and prices heavily look alike. And if you want to state that you are providing better service than HG than you should state why are you better...

Anyway,
I was on live support few days ago, collecting some general info about your (NakedHosting) services. I have some TGP submitted galleries that I wanted to move to NH. I am interested in your static hosting and your Virtual Hosting. So if you have ICQ and some free time hit me up... I'm a potential new customer... :)

TondaB 09-17-2007 10:52 AM

I just got back from the WYPD event in Las Salinas, Mexico. If anyone has any questions in regards to Naked Hosting, I would be more than happy to help:)

sales at nakedhosting dot com or ICQ 61462417

The Duck 09-17-2007 10:59 AM

I have a dedicated can at Webair and I am very happy, the support is the best part. Always someone avalible and most of the time the issue is resolved within minutes.

Pornwolf 09-17-2007 11:05 AM

I have had dedicated boxes and a virtual plan over at Webair for several years.

SEVERAL YEARS.

Nuff said.

Good thing they defined what an inode was.
