I just dont know what to do....

My dog bit my wife today. We've had the beagle for 8 years, since he was 8 weeks old.. And lately he has been getting more agressive... Today he bit her good... just broke the skin a little, but it is swollen...

I have nobody to give him too, and he cant go to the pound... nobody will adopt an 8 year old beagle...

IS there any kind of beagle rescue or something..

fuck man, this is my dog... i love his ass... i dont want to do what I have to do, its going to break my heart... but fuckkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk

Beagles can get like that sometimes, it's just part of their stubborn demeanor.

dogshrink. I laughed with it aswel in the past but they do great work. He/she will be able to teach you what you are doing wrong and why the dog is biting. There is always a reason and most of the time it's easaly fixed. (silly example: feed the dog after you have eaten or he will see himself as leader of the gang and will "correct" you by snipping)

crzy thing is... he has never done this before... i had him trained to go outside within weeks... he's always been a great well trained dog...

rabies????

pocketkangaroo 09-14-2007 05:22 PM

I don't have much advice. I just think that when you buy a dog, you buy him for the good and the bad.

if you want to keep your dog, use a chain and provide him with a nice pad outside or porch area

GrouchyAdmin 09-14-2007 06:03 PM

What'd you do if your kid bit your wife? Swat him. He'll keep a vendetta against her, but he'll learn his place. :1orglaugh

Maybe some obedience classes might help

purplehaze 09-14-2007 06:23 PM

my dad was a dog trainer for aggressive dogs/working dogs. although i don't ever remember him training a beagle, the concept is the same. the dog needs to know who is boss. if you don't want to get rid of him, your best option would be to do some hardcore obedience training...but your wife needs to do it with you (and she can't show her fear of the dog either). to correct bad behavior, you have to catch it when he does it. it sounds like he doesn't do this all the time, so i know this sounds counterproductive, but you may have to aggitate the dog to get him to a state of aggression, and then correct the behavior. don't beat the shit out of him or anything...just firmly pop him under the chin with your hand (like slapping a child on the wrist) and say "NO!" or use words that he is already familiar with. make sure your wife does this too. don't do this endlessly, or the dog won't learn that it is being punished for that particular "crime". do it a couple times a week and then reward him with stuff he likes when his aggression becomes less. good luck!

I have two dogs and i would give my last $ to make sure they had a good life.

You know it could be something simple like tooth ache ? Know how you feel when you get one ? Take him to the vet and have him checked out before you do anything you will regret later on !

DO NOT DO THIS!

You basically have 2 choices
1/ put him asleep
2/ get a proffesional to help you to correct his/your/your wifes behavior
