Unlocking it is sweet, but what's even sweeter is the monsterous "roaming" bills people are coming back with after taking it on vacation:

Lol, I bet 98% of the people who will attempt to unlock their phone using that tutorial will end up destroying their phone. That unlocking process is way too complicated.

has anyone tried this with an international sim? does it really work?

Its kinda simple if you follow the step by step http://iphone.unlock.no/ (really only 3 main steps) If you try to do it with out the guides good luck...
