German Internet Provider Blocks Adult Sites

Douche Telekom?

Brad Mitchell 09-11-2007 02:20 PM

I'm queueing some reports to see the significance on a network on mine...
If my information is correct, this would be: Arcor IP-Network ASN #3209

This is not insignificant. On our overall traffic this is a top 30 surfer network (of all networks in the world with traffic heading to our types of sites) in terms of numbers of connections and traffic. Hopefully the public outcries and this gets changed.

It doesn't appear to be DTAG (Deutsche Telekom), if they did the same thing that would represent about 5% on a fair cross-section of all traffic surfing the average adult webmaster's sites on top of this other network.

phew, I'm with Arcor and I'm actually unable to reach sex.com and youporn.com at the moment. I can however still access privatamateure.com... :-/

frank7799 09-11-2007 02:44 PM

Itīs Arcor, which is part of Vodafone, one of the biggest ISPīs in Europe. they blocked sex.com, youporn.com and privatamateure.com.

The story behind is a dispute between a video store company and an online company.

Arcor justifies the blockade with a violation of German laws, which force online companies to protect their content with adult verification system and deliver access data by mail, so the postman can verify if the addressee is of legal age.

What the Germans really do not realize is that they are providing a small amount of adult websites only, about 4%, do not miss to click here (movie)!

privatamateure.com changed their IP today and arcor blocked IPīs only. We will see if they will block it again, but I doubt that.

the info in the clip is partially correct.

on the bottom line: Germany is a bad place to live and work.

another sign of "If we don't start policing ourselves, people will do it for us"

will be interesting to see what they are blocking and what the intention is.

baddog 09-11-2007 03:41 PM

I hope I am able to work when I am there.

From the sites they blocked so far, it's seems to be about freely accessible porn in general, putting them in one line with china and some arab countries...

I mean, blocking a parked sex.com ? Can't imagine any valid reason.

"Questioned by heise online, company spokesman Paul Gerlach confirmed that various pages can no longer be reached from the Arcor network. "Pornographic content is freely accessible [on the pages concerned] with insufficient or no checks on age".

Amen. And lets be honest, you Germans are into some freaky shit. :1orglaugh

tony286 09-11-2007 08:38 PM

The most extreme shit comes out of germany but on the other side they are so conservative. Wonder if those people can still get bt's ?

Corleone 09-11-2007 08:42 PM

Nazis are back? .. f

RawAlex 09-11-2007 08:55 PM

Haha... maybe we can get them to wake up and block the major torrent sites as well, considering they are packed with porn.

Sosa 09-11-2007 08:57 PM

those bastards!

CarlosTheGaucho 09-12-2007 03:26 AM

Well, I have to tell I was always curious how far they can go, as far as we have received many times threatenings from Authorities, where we had to rework the German version of the tour into soft version.

As far as we just had another TV report about the online swinger parties this monday it would be a huge loss of revenue if we were blocked by Arcor, will rather doublecheck. The German speaking market is still number one for us.

Brad Mitchell 09-12-2007 08:26 AM

People should be paying more attention to this thread! I wonder how much more of this we will see in the future. I hate to say it, but probably quite a bit.

Heard that they're routing sex.com top a ppc feed. Nice way to steal $$. They might want to team up with Zango.
