An excellent reason why you want to host your own stuff. Having someone else decide if you are doing something wrong or not.

What he said.

With emphasis.

You are fucking nuts if you don't host your own blogs. In fact, you're working for somebody else instead of yourself.

Sheerest insanity.

Free blog sites are good to send links to your real blogs.

StarkReality 09-11-2007 03:18 PM

A few more:

Wordpress based:
Thumb Blogs
X Aff
Just Wank

Non Wordpress:

I prefer the wordpress ones, but the other ones are worth a look, too.

And you are using the SEO work many other did for yourself, there are advantages and disadvantages, but everybody remotely interested in SEO will assure you that free hosted blogs/sites can be very handy for certain purposes.

Actually your crazy if you don't do both, host your own and take advantage of the free ones, the more the merrier :2 cents:

The best thing you can do is get a copy of blog organizer and then use it to fully automate all your freehosted blogs and partially automate your regular blogs, then use freehosted blogs to get traffic and bookmarkers to your regular blogs.

:)

Forkbeard 09-12-2007 01:58 PM

I stand by my position.

Any development work you do on a free hosted blog is work that benefits somebody else in the long run.

Sure, you may benefit in the short run. But if you did that same work on your own domains, you'd get to KEEP the benefit, instead of letting it accrue to a domain somebody else owns.

I guess it all depends on your time horizon. If you're a fast buck artist, free hosted blogs can be a shortcut. But if you are planning for the long haul, they're a waste of your effort.

isanadultblog is "Non Wordpress" ??? so what part of "We use the world famous Word Press blog system incorporated with our own script to allow you to get your free hosted adult blog" made you think its not a wordpress based free hosted bog service?

Marshal 09-16-2007 03:28 PM

What's wrong with building your blog on an old established domain that already has link popularity (bloghost)? Well, you'd better stick to TGPs and submitting! :)

What's wrong with building your blog on somebody else's domain, that you don't own? Whose domain will reap the benefit of the work YOU do, promoting your site on their domain, for years and years after you have moved on?

Dang, that question almost answers itself.
