Rugby is awesome. Both my brothers play for their colleges.

Bullshit.... the men of American Football are warriors, not pussies.

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. -

The Buffalo Bills' Kevin Everett sustained a "catastrophic" and life-threatening spinal-cord injury and his chances of regaining a full range of body motion are very small, an orthopedic surgeon said Monday.

"A best-case scenario is full recovery, but not likely," Dr. Andrew Cappuccino said, one day after performing a four-hour operation on the player. "I believe there will be some permanent neurological paralysis. ... A full neurological recovery was bleak, dismal."

Cappuccino noted the 25-year-old reserve tight end did have touch sensation throughout his body and also showed signs of movement.

Why are rugby fans so threatened by the NFL? If rugby is so awesome that great, enjoy it. Why do you need to call players of another sport pussies in order to prove something about your sport? Never makes sense to me.

The real answer to who are the best athletes depends on what country you live in. In most of the World soccer makes the most money so that's where the best athletes are. In the US it's basketball, football, baseball, etc. so that's where you will find the best athletes.

LeRoy 09-11-2007 11:39 AM

How come rugby players go out of their way to call American football players pussies? Any sport that involves colliding with bodies full contact is not for pussies. Rugby players feel a little jealous due to the popularity internationally.American football is marketed better, well not to be frank but it's because its American. I guess anything with the tag "America" is going to be better. With exception for scams because West Africa takes that one.

_Richard_ 09-11-2007 11:44 AM

haha.. rock on

thehand 09-11-2007 11:46 AM

heres a pretty cool article about what you call a "pussy".....

"In 2003, he got into a training camp fight with teammate Marcus Williams and crushed his eye socket."

?I am pissed. And I am down there just trying to rip that ball out of his hands. And all I could get was a finger. And at the time I thought it was his. But, just, whatever it was ? I just snapped it. And I could hear a scream at the bottom of the pile,?

Being New Zealand born I grew up most my life with rugby on the tv, it always brought friends and family together, everyone had a few cold beers and screamed a lot of curse words in the direction of the television.
(as if the coach might hear or something)
Football is much the same as it brings people together, gives everyone an excuse to drink and yell at the tv. LOL
I love rugby and I enjoy football. Is one sport rougher than the other?
Who can really answer such a question?
And in all honesty why does it matter and who really gives a fuck?
If you don't like rugby then change the channel and vice versa for football!
Both sports are great in my opinion.......now tennis....thats a different story!

BTW - GO ALL BLACKS!!!!!:thefinger

Brother Bilo 09-11-2007 01:07 PM

I've said it before and I'll say it again. If rugby players are so tough because they play without pads, why not have them play a game of American football without pads. That should settle the argument completely. If these "tough guys" can play football without pads and still walk off the field, I'll be impressed and completely concede any future arguments.

Any takers?

I have played both sports. Football is far more challenging and difficult than Rugby. The difference grows as you move higher up.

The average NFL career is under 5 years, and many that play longer have long term health problems that require knee and hip replacements. It's a game where you can literally die or be paralyzed on any play. Guys routinely tear up knees, ankles, and shoulders. You are guaranteed to have a few guys every year seriously hurt. Concussions are common occurences.

It's not saying that Rugby isn't a tough sport, just that it doesn't have nearly the same toll on the body as football. Take a look at an injury report for the NFL and a rugby team and compare the injuries. The fact is that most NFL players could play competitive rugby, while very few rugby players could play in the NFL.

Only lineman could be considered "fat", but hardly unfit. These guys can run faster than both of us, and have a ton of strength. The rest of football players would hardly be called fat and unfit. You almost can't make it in the NFL without running a 4.5 40 or better. You have 250 pound linebackers with track speed. You have Wide Receivers and Running Backs who can run in the olympics.

Call football players a lot of things, but fat and unfit is not one of them.

this thread was for pussies, until i came in here.

rugby sucks. fukking boring.

Busty 09-11-2007 03:40 PM

I grew up in South Africa and you had to play rugby, probably one of the most dangerous sports I have ever experienced and I also trained combat ju jitsu for 5 years and rugby fucked me up way more because with martial arts your body reacts off instinct after a while and you get a 6th sense on how to fight and protect yourself. I have memories of running down the rugby field heading of a touch down and getting tackled below the waist and slamming to the ground and slamming my head into the field, not fun at all.

I think the initial poster was simply looking for *mad views*. However you see to think that NFL is big outside of the USA, when in reality it's not at all. It maybe huge there but elsewhere other sports are *marketed better*. I think you'll find that internationally rugby is viewed by more people than NFL

My brother plays rugby...those guys are nuts. Football players are also nuts. If you want to see some HARDCORE action though, watch professional roller skating...it's INSANE
