Buffalo Bills football player Kevin Everett sustained a "catastrophic" and life-threatening spinal-cord injury while trying to make a tackle during the season opener and is unlikely to walk again, the surgeon who operated on him Monday said.


Story here, he is only 25 years old. :(

That really sucks, and I hope he can somehow miraculously make a full recovery, but that's the risk you gotta take when you throw your body around like that...

Thats a tough break. Hopefully he'll at least be able to walk, even if he doesn't play football ever again.

He'll never play a snap of NFL football again, hopefully he'll be able to walk. Sad to see someone like that cut down in their prime.

That really sucks. Nobody ever wants to see injuries like this on the field. Fuck, he just collapsed after that hit. What's worse, is that wasn't even the hardest hit on the field, the spine was just lined up wrong and bam, maybe never walking again.

perhaps this is why players are paid so much money, to take the chance they won't have a healthy life anymore

The doctor said the chances of that are very bleak. He is lucky to still be alive.

I'm watching Sports Center, and they just reported that Kevin Everett has made a dramatic turnaround and should be able to walk again within a few weeks to a few months. UM is my alma matter, and it's going to take a LOT more than this to keep a Cane down...

I saw it happen. Very scary and sad.

I realize this is a lot of money for most people, but he only got paid the minimum league salary, $300-400 thousand. I believe they should be paid more.
