What do you do with Found Money

When I was a kid my mother taught me the concept of Found Money - money you weren't expecting, thus it can be used for something you wouldn't normally buy.

So today I got $200 bucks from a completely unexpected source. Totally "Found Money". So I started thinking about those new iPod Fat Nanos (I don't have an iPod) or a couple of TV on DVD sets I've been wanting.

What would you do with $200 found money. It's not a huge amount, but it's enough to buy something cool. What would it be for you?

I got paid by a sponsor that I didn't even remeber promoting, so I went and got a new grill tonight :)

I LOVE found money. I'd probably put it in my tattoo fund. I am saving up for a sleeve by one of my favorite artists.

Found money usually gets spent within 1 hr of finding getting it.

Probably use it towards getting the iPod Video - or iPod Touch

Spend it on something I normally wouldn't buy. One time I found a wad of $1 bills (now you have to ask yourself - was I stripping on the side or saving up for a trip to Chippendales?) and bought a Roomba with it. I got a rebate on a fridge, bought a new dishwasher because it was prettier and cooler than my old one that worked perfectly well :)

Damn, that dishwasher was almost 2 years ago and I think that's the last time I had any "found" money :(

i lose them again

fallenmuffin 09-10-2007 06:04 PM

I've always called it "unexpected income"..

$200.. probably put it with another $300 (totaling $500) and open a scottrade account

Sly 09-10-2007 06:05 PM

I don't really believe in found money. I did something at some point to make it, it just goes in with everything else.

But if you really want an excuse to spoil your self, go ahead. :-)

JamesK2 09-10-2007 06:11 PM

Casino, food & drinks I guess.

Funny you should ask.. I just read about this guy's "Lost Wallet Test" earlier today:

http://www.bored.com/wallets/

Here were the results based upon demographics:

http://www.bored.com/wallets/testresults.htm

and then some people who actually called him, trying to cash out the gift certificates that were in the wallets:

Pretty funny shit! :)

baddog 09-10-2007 07:41 PM

We are doing a move and just found $4,400. I think a pre-xmas bonus will be a good way to dispose of it.

DaddyHalbucks 09-10-2007 08:22 PM

Invest it.

It sounds like it qualifies perfectly for Cramer's Mad Money.

DeadFidel 09-10-2007 09:49 PM

beemk 09-10-2007 10:17 PM
