Westmaster hosting GFY!
I have to warn anyone from using Westmaster as hosting services. Their idea of service is hitting you on the head with large objects.
This morning I had a mail from their billing department saying that they couldn't charge my credit card for some reason and if I didn't fix it they would disconnect me. Guess what, when I checked - they already have. BANG, just cut me off like that. There is nothing wrong with my credit card, I use it constantly. I emailed them my alternate card, but this is going to be last time I pay those bastards. To all your hosting people - is it standard practice to treat customers that way? |

i had an account with westmaster. long time ago. cant remember if it was good or not. pity that.
|
My first "adult" account was with westmaster because of the great "unlimited" bandwidth deal they offered....
3 Hun listings in a month and I realized "unlimited" is a very relative term....moved on after a few months, although they were always fast and up, unlike some of the other hosts I moved to since. Nz :BangBang: |
I recently upgraded from xxxwebhosting.com to my own servers - but I was very happy with xxxwebhosting.com, give them a try.
|
I feel you. I had to move my my stuff very fast. I hooked up with OXEO online. They helped me move my stuff. They certainly got the speed. Support speaks for itself. Trust me.
http://www.oxeo.com/ tell em I sent you. :thumbsup |
After I've complained, they restored my sites and told me that if I want to change the credit card (I still have no idea why they couldn't charge the previous one) I will have to resignup with new information and fax them the form. So I did and pointed out that I would like my mail and ftp access restored as well - got no answer on that one.
This is frustrating as hell... |
I quit westmaster just last week I really would not recommend
anyone using them my server would often go down and there support staff wouldn't be available for days |

this one time . . . westmaster fucked me over good.
stay clear! |
Over the past year I've had the same problem twice now - ie card was declined. First time the card had been stopped for suspected fraud (seems I was flagged for using it too much on the Internet and abroad), second time I just got carried away and took it over the limit without realising. Both times the hosting company has been more than happy to wait the 3-10 days it normally takes me to transfer money about and/or sort it out. If the host cut me off immediately I wouldn't be with them next month. Fucking stupid thing to do.

In the spring of 2000 the guys at allwebsites.com shut my sites down. I went to check stats one day and my sites were gone. I scratched my head and gave them a call. They said that I owed them $420. I asked them why and they said that my credit card transaction didn't go thru. So I call the credit card company. The credit card company says that the $420 charge did go through. So I call allwebsites back. They tell me that they have not recieved the money. So I give them the transaction number. They tell me that the credit card company will have to send them the transaction information. Two weeks later my sites come back up. I only get one e-mail that says
Dear killerelf Your account has been restored. Allwebsites No fucking apology, no phone call, no offer for fucking me out of two weeks of business. Try keeping your traffic trades with two weeks of down time. Them mother fuckers cost me at least $1k in business and about 200 hours of work. I canceled the accound and told them to go fuck themselves. Now I go through techiemedia.com Those guys are the real shiznitz:thumbsup :feels-hot |

kinkyplace you know where to go now!
:winkwink: |
I remember using them ages ago when they had "unlimited bandwidth accounts"
I uploaded some galleries and listet them some places then the day after I got a mail that I was using too much "CPU" and I would have to upgrade to a bigger account with more Harddisk space (more expensive) I told them that I was not interested in upgrading because I did not need more space. It didn't take long before my site was disconnected even though I paid 1 month up front. :Graucho |
for the best hosting use
http://dynamichosting.com Talk to Jay tell him you were sent by RAM and you get a sweet deal and very good service. If you have any questions please e-mail me |
HA! I used westmaster 2 years ago, and same thing! They cut off my 30,000 unique per day movie post, said my credit card didnt go through or some shit like that. Common sense would say, lets ask this customer for alternative means of payment IE Another credit card, pay pal, a check, whatever! They really dont hesitate to shut you down. They suck, BAD!

I had a similar experience with westmaster awhile back.
I had a virtual account, and the way their pricing was set up there was no incentive to prepay for BW. It was the same price per gig whether you paid an overage or got a bigger plan. So I got a small plan, figured I'd keep the cash til the end of the month. They email me after 10 days and say I've exceeded my BW and I need to send them money NOW. I asked them why they don't just send me one bill at the end of the month instead of this incremental stuff, because neither of us knew how much I would use total for the month, and they already had all of my CC info. (I mean I could have paid them that day for the overage, and then the next day we'd have had to do the same thing all over again, and at $2.50 a gig I wasn't going to prepay for a huge plan that I might not fully use) Before I got a reply to that email they cut me off. They act like everyone is somehow trying to rip them off. Not a very nice way to treat your customers. |

So, how many minutes warning will *your* hosting give me next time it's time to pay the bill?? |

Kinky, et al.-
I don't think there is any doubt about the intentions of Westmaster. They are not poor bookkeepers or bad at public relations, etc. They are in this to steal money from people. They play the same scam over and over. If they have your bank account info, and a copy of your signature, I would be very concerned. *edit spelling* |
