Lot of Model / Talent agencies closing ?

I've noticed that over the past few months a number of agencies / management companies have closed or stopped trading on the web.

Spicy Talent went out of business months ago
Sexxxy Talent ( Naughty Talent ) within the last few weeks
rockgoddessmodels off-line for at least 2 months now
exxxtrememodeling closed undergoing construction for more than 3 weeks now ( it takes just a few hours to upload a new site ) ?
Adult Faces no reply to numerous e-mails ?
Silver Star has reduce their stable of girls down to a handful.

Are we shooting less content or are these girls/ models/ talent just a nightmare to deal with. Ill put my money on the latter !

AllStar 09-09-2007 02:18 PM

Well I am not too sure if it is that the girls are nightmare any more then have been for the last 15 years.

World modeling is gone too but that was last year.

Personally I think it is that a couple of the agency's have set unreasonable rates for some of the talent.

So now you are having to pay for:
Top Tier Talent :$1200- $2,000 Scene
Second Tier: 1,000 to 1,200 a scene
Bottom tier: $800

And now Male talent is getiing between $500 and $700 a scene.

Also the female talent once it gets into the talent pool gets shot for every fuckin website and Dvd, that withen a few weeks she is everywhere.

So I think a lot of the smaller guys who buy content or shoot it for their own stuff are looking at other places ie Miami, Canada and Euro. Where you can get fresh talent and great prices.

I know for myself I shoot a lot in Canada and I am getting a lot of new customers.

Not familiar with the economics of agencies who appear to cater more to web activity.

Only thoughts are the net is not exactly the best end of the market for models or agencies - it's basically the gutter end. We have a model agency and studio facilities and rent studios out on occasion - most shoots are not net-related. Girls can earn far more money in... basically mainstream areas than shooting net porn - and the agency gets a higher revenue per girl.

Only a gutty feeling - unless it is serious web production, generally the stuff is being shot for peanuts (and hell - it shows). There are also plenty guys shooting their own content and not using talent who would ever get work from an agency - basically local amateur girls. So what's the point of agencies catering for net content?

My wife recruits, tired twice to deal with agency's too much bullshit.

These companies were not licensed by the State of California to act as agencies. You will continue to see a lot of mergers as it takes a large staff of drivers, booking agents, office administration, publicists and models to run a successful agency.

you didn't know World Modeling closed and we're supposed to believe you are in the content production biz?

The agency closed almost a year ago.

small agencies have always opened and closed. it's hardly a professional business, fly by night types. Spicy Talent closed cuz the owner left the porn biz and moved from LA. Silverstar is closing. DVD biz is going to shit, I heard it was a very slow summer out there.

I agree its better if you can find your own talent but that takes a lot of time and even then models flake. I dont mind paying the $100 agents fee as the girls almost always turn up for the shoot. A no show can cost me $400 in location fees and makeup artists.

True those ones are licensed. But the licensing is a joke. The law says that to have a license the agency can't have any models who are in engaged in prostitution. Doesn't take genius to figure out what that means.

Check out case law California vs Freeman. The State of California does not consider performing in adult videos to be prostitution.

Hey,
Go and check those modeling sites and then go and check escort sites. It doesn't take a genius to figure out 90% of the models escort.
Therefore they are breaking california law.
