Problems with Trials!!!!!!

many people will tell you that trials are not worth it,,
you might get smaller sales but its not as significant
and you'll make more in the long run,,

there is alot of seasoned surfers that will rape your site for 2.95 trial and never intending to pay anymore,,

normally its around 35% from a trial to an active member.
and the average member normally last 2-3 months
but your site might be an exception

my trial is 6.95. i see what your saying though. my site has always done pretty amazing so i freak everytime i change something. how long should i stick with a pricing structure before i move back? how long before you can get a really good idea?

I am currently retaining 36% of my trials to rebills.

I have a 3 day trial at 5.99 which used to be 3.95. I saw no difference in the signups and cancels.
I also had a 3.95 trial rebill to 19.99 then switched to the 5.99 trial to 34.99 rebill and saw no difference in retention and conversion.

bottom line:

The surfer is horny, wants to get inside and smack his thingy and 65% of the assholes cancel no matter what the price is. I bet you can have a small members area with a small selection of content vs a huge members area and expect about a 10% increase in retention. So the question is... is it worth spending tons on content to get a 10% increase in rebills or update regularly and grow as your site grows and pocket that money you saved on buying content instead of waiting months and months to get your money back(+10% rebills) on the content you purchased.

thats good to hear, maybe i will increase my monthly membership to 35.00. that would be amazing if i didnt see a drop in numbers from 24.95 to 35.00 a month.

i will never do a 3 minute trial myself. i believe that you need to get something out of them. plus, if you put free on there people think its a scam i feel.

With a few exceptions, you'll almost always make more $$ with trials than without.
I push one site really hard that only converts 20% of the trials some months, but every way we've tested it, it makes more $$ with trials than without, both in the short and in the long term.

With a solo girl amateur site, I wouldn't charge too much. No more than $30 but most solo girl amateur sites stay in the $20-$25 range.
I think the main reason for this is that most of your members are also members at other sites. They very well may think you're the greatest thing since sliced bread, but you can't be on the cam 24/7, so when you're not putting on a cam show they have something else they fall back on to get their "relief".

The hangups of trials? Make sure you have a good htaccess file or a script running on the server side to prevent the "leech" programs from downloading your entire members area during the trial period.
Also, if I were you, I'd watermark EVERY SINGLE ONE of my pics and mpegs with the URL of your site.
There are going to be people who steal your content and put it on bbs boards etc, at least if you have your URL on the content you can get a few extra members out of the deal.

Desirea most trials do about the same number free trial or paid trial its always about 30-40% go active. so focus on just getting them in. since you have a rev share program it doesn't matter but your sales will go up and the volume will. with trials.

Like pimpdog said they just want to spank it real quik and hope they forget to cancel. you might do a little better since you have a 1 on 1 contact with your members. don't get lazy and stay on chat and the cam

35% turn over from trial to monthly is good! its above industry average which is somewhere from 20-30 %
