Windows Vista: RECORD WHAT YOU HEAR

DumbAss Microsoft has made VISTA much hard to simply "Record What You Hear" from a piece of software.

Has anyone come across this problem yet...?

Does anyone have a solution?

When I am listening to something on the computer... I want to simple be able to use something like Audacity to record what is coming out of my computer.

THANK U - and Kind Regards.

sound forge has always been good to me for this, what are you trying to use?

rock-reed 09-08-2007 12:30 PM

Jace----Are you using SoundForce on WINDOWS VISTA???

like If I am listening to an online interview on an internet radio station...I wanna just load up my audio editor and record it...as I hear it.

---anyone...?

No one running VISTA here?

good luck finding an answer

Preventing users from recording stuff is the sole purpose of Vista.

If you feel your PC has to do what you want rather than what MS thinks you should, use any other OS.

I was using it in vista when I had vista running, never experienced any errors like you are referring to

but I don't run vista anymore, it sucked major ass

Very good point... but it was a question asking for an answer to the problem within Vista.... it is solvable, and I am sure...someone here has an answer.

I agree though.... with you... for a long term solution... Another OS is the way to go.

Anyone have any work-arounds for this specific DUMB_ASS Vista problem?

Thanks

I'm using Vista and I'm not sure what your issue is exactly. I can get other programs to "hear" the other channels just fine with a loop going out of line out port and into the mic port. This was my same setup when I was using XP. There was a way in XP to "share" all channels across but there was always distortion when I did that and have never tried it since.

This was always an 'add on' based upon drivers. You'll need to find updated drivers for your hardware that support this feature, or as SteveAwesome said, you can always link from output to input, and record that.

Anyone fix this dumb-ass Microsoft problem yet?

It's probably the drivers like grouchy said, but I've ran into some programs that couldn't "record what you hear" in vista. So you may want to try some other program or update what you are using now.

I don't use it yet, but good luck finding a answer
