because they go back later and add in links to their websites... it is done to get backlinks

1-5 weeks later PostBot goes and edits these random posts on various forums and stuffs them with dozens of links to their websites

You can't but you can edit your sig, which appears in each post.

oh, ok, never thought about that... so if I change my sig now and google happens to spider a thread from 500 posts ago, google will see the new sig this time around?

Now, if I start a nick, with no sig, then a week later I add a sig, the posts I made prior to adding the sig will not all of a sudden appear with sigs.

Ah, that's good. I wonder if this is something new, as I'm sure back in the old days sigs were dynamic.

The people running these post bots don't actually check if every forum they hit allows posts to be edited after X amount of time, or if sigs are dynamic... they simply try it on every forum and hope that a decent percentage of the forums allow them to get major backlinks!
