On both my computers this morning I had this popup.... one of the computers had nothing other then ICQ running.

Is this a windows hole ? Someone must be making serious fucking cash doing this.

well, i think you should close / firewall tcp port 137 and 138 for the ourside world, those are netbios ports ...

Well in Windows 2000/XP you can use "net send <ip/computername> <whatyouwannawright>" in the command line to send thoose kind of messages to someone.

To disable the messenger service do a "net stop messenger" in the commandline.... that should solve your problems.

Yup, looks like a Netsend command. Get a firewall. Kind of interesting that people are using scripts to send that out now. Interesting. At least the message wasn't misleading. If I would be scamming with this, I'd say
