Retire?

At what age you think you're going to retire?

cranki 09-06-2007 07:10 AM

retirement is boring.

ServerGenius 09-06-2007 07:12 AM

if I retire I'll die.....so I'll die first then retire

Guy8856 09-06-2007 07:16 AM

Never want to retire, but want to get doing something I enjoy. Sitting around and cutting source code gets pretty fucken boring after 6 years. I'm planning to go big soon though, and Singapore is where it'll happen. Never seen a country so full of money and millionaires before. :)

Made myself decently wealthy twice before, but now basically broke at 26. One more time. :)

Well, first time I was 20 and making a good $35K+ per month. But I was 20, so of course pissed all that away with booze, drugs and partying, and thought I was king of the world. Burned out later on, and realized I was a dipshit...

Then the second time, well, that was marriage, lol. :)

i don't think i'll ever retire 100%... i don't think i can sit on my ass all day long without anything to do...

sniperwolf 09-06-2007 08:24 AM

I am not thinking yet of retiring since i am still young. What bothers me now is how can i save more money for my future excluding retirement! lol! :winkwink:

Dirty Dutchman 09-06-2007 08:32 AM

30 years young and bloody broke!
So, getting a job again. call it coming out of retirement :)

But what is fun about retiring? I'd never retire, just do something I earn money in and love to do... do it till I'm 150...

Retirement is pretty boring.

G-Rotica 09-06-2007 08:34 AM

I'm shooting for 43. That's next year.

RawAlex 09-06-2007 08:44 AM

Retirement is what you do when you work for someone else. When you work for yourself or run your own company, you can adjust your work to match your desired lifestyle. You don't ever have to officially retire.

I doubt I'll ever be able to. But if I could, I would do it in a split second. I'd travel the world. I could never get bored with the people and places this world offers. I'd spend entire years just living in various places scuba diving, fishing, boating. Maybe I'd go back to school and learn about things I've always been interested in. The list of things to do would be endless.

Retiring is boring....i rather just work and take breaks ..

When they put me in the ground. No one in my family (well, the males - I'm the only female that's ever actually had a career, such as it is ;) ) has ever retired. My mother and grandmother had to finish up my 85 year old grandfather's last order when he died (he sold specialty advertising) and when another grandfather "retired" and sold his snack food company he bought a functioning 1500 acre cattle ranch. He had an office and went every day. I'm not sure he did much more than drink and smoke cigars but he always wore a suit (I never saw any of my grandfathers dressed down in less than a dress shirt and tie) though considering himself now a cowboy, he traded in his tie and wore a bolo :)

My Dad is 72 and still working though mostly part time as they travel a lot.

I also put new Michelin Pilot tires all around on the GTI... so I guess I did re-tire.

Fap 09-06-2007 09:16 AM

There is no set age on retirment, i mean my father retired at the age of 39 and my uncle's father who is 75 is still working.. it all depends on your financial status.. which is pretty obvious heh.. but i would say average age of retirement is around 60-65
